The best covering for the bottom of the cage for a Tenrec is old fashioned cat litter not the gel on. It absorbs all the smells and can be changed once a month. You can scoop out all poo during the month. You can get this at any pet shop, take-a-lot, Pick n Pay, etc.

This is just a reminder it is very important to have a wheel in the cage and a hide. Most pet shops don't know anything about their needs and when you do see them or buy them from pet shops they usually in a cage with just their bowls no hide, no wheel etc... it is very cruel if you do not put a wheel or hide in their cage and it is very cruel if they in a small cage so please cages must be min 1 meter by 40/60cm.
