Brown tree snake. Mildy venomous

How cute are they guys with their beady yellow eyes!

This one was a bit of work to get away from the wire fencing but we got there in the end!

This guy came from beerburrum and was released to nearby bushland

Marsh snake. Mildy venomous.

Picked up from a local retirement village in Caboolture. They saw the tail end of something go under their fridge.

Got this fella out and on further examination found a puncture wound on its underside near the tail.

Instead of releasing, we took it to Australia Zoo where it spent a week getting the care required. Today we were able to go and collect it to release it!!

Super cool ending for this one!

AWARENESS.... Watch Out 🐍
Juvenile Eastern Brown

Its EB's egg laying season and soon little juvenilles will start appearing in some neighbourhoods.

Identifying their colourings is a key factor in knowing if a baby in your yard is a venomous one. Watch this quick video for some insight.

(Babies can be patterned / banded or plain in colour. Their skin colours can vary.

90% of EB babies can be identified by the black/ orange band at nape of neck ).

Baby EB's are as dangerous as adults - their level of venom toxicity is the same so can still administer a fatal bite. Only consolation is their venom glands and fangs are tiny so bites can be less likely to punch through skin. Under no circumstances attempt to pick up or handle one yourself.

Please educate your children so their aware these babies are not to be played with and keep pets away. 🐍

RESCUE - Eastern Brown 🐍

Sad end to this local Eastern Browns' life today.

Attempting to cross through a yard ended in confrontation with the resident dog. Sadly the dog's attack was so severe euthanasia was the only option for our rescuerJames to end the poor EB's pain.

(Photo has been hazed to lessen the Injuries for posting purposes).

There are several reasons a snake will enter your yard.

1. Access water from a pet's dish or pool during hot days
2. Chase down a rodent for dinner
3. Passing through on its way home or on a hunt

Their not entering to attack pets as some believe.

Luck was on this dogs side today in avoiding a bite. Had it been envenomated however, its owner would experience thousands of $$$ in anti venom treatment & Hospital stay costs, with no guarantee of its survival.

It's vital Dog owners initiate responsibility of training their pets not to attack wildlife. Especially venomous snakes.

A high percentage of snake attacks end with both dog and snake dying. Both suffering horrific pain before passing.

Having to euthanise a snake on site with blunt force blows to its head also causes immense trauma for the Rescuer on the job. There are no winners in these circumstances.

Remember, a snake will not initiate an attrack on your dog unless it's threatened, cornered, clawed or caught in the pets mouth. Many times we hear the blame laid on the Reptile when in fact it's the domestic pet responsible for the outcomes.

Let's work together in teaching our domestic pets to live in harmony with their local wildlife.

Second one for tonight. A white crowned snake which was relocated from a home in petrie after the home owners had concerns for their dogs. These lil fellas are weakly venomous. Check out how cute this little one is and the iridescents under the light!!

Eastern small eyed snake from deception bay!

Super cool call out tonight from A1 Snake Relocations to a Eastern small eyed snake. This one found a nice cozy gap under an outdoor kitchen area and wasn’t too keen to come out!

Once I got it out safely, it was moved to this nearby bushland/creek area!

Another referral from the team over at A1 Snake Relocations!
This one was found up in the top area of a little shed that was due to be pulled down. It was loving the warmth of the hot sun today and was not a fan of being woken up!

Once I was able to get it down it was released to nearby bushland on the edge of a beautiful quiet creek in burpengary.

Lastnight was a late night call for this beautiful carpet python. By the time I arrived, it had made its way to the neighbors yard. They let me through to pick it up so it could be safely relocated to nearby bushland. Referral from A1 Snake Relocations, thanks guys! Always a pleasure to do some relocations for you!

G’day everyone, with the weather warming up please be vigilant with native reptiles and wildlife getting around. James was on his way home from work when he spotted this beautiful eastern brown snake on the road in which he helped cross safely.

If you come across any reptiles in your yard please contact us and if we aren’t available then we can get you in contact with another catcher quite quickly.

⚠️🐍⚠️🐍⚠️ CALLING ALL SNAKE CATCHERS ⚠️🐍⚠️🐍⚠️

Spring has arrived with full force in SEQ and reptiles have emerged from their winter quarters.
Breeding season already has started which means so has ‘trauma’ season.

Wildlife rescue organisations like Reptile Rehabilitation Qld Inc, RSPCA QLD, Wildlife Rescue Queensland and Wildcare Australia Inc. experience high frequencies of calls from the public, concerning reptiles that are in trouble.
RRQi is a small but effective group of dedicated volunteers, who spend a large amount of time with rescuing and rehabilitating reptiles, venomous and non-venomous alike.
The pressure on our volunteers can be quite high and even overwhelming at times.

We would like to ask you, given you love reptiles, to please help us.

There are a few different ways to do this:

- reduce the pressure on volunteer wildlife groups by offering to help with reptile rescues in your operation area.

- minimise the response time for reptile rescues. Often, injured reptiles are in severe pain, therefore managing their pain is time crucial and means a higher chance of survival.

- if you come across injured reptiles during your call-outs, please transport them to dedicated wildlife hospitals or specialised reptile vets. Don’t drop them off at your local vet that doesn’t work with reptiles, as the animals often sit underneath their counters for hours (without pain management and treatment) until they are picked up by wildlife ambulances or us.

- if you get a call from a member of the public about an injured reptile, please do the right thing and go there to help this critter instead of referring the call to one of the rescue organisations which are already under the pump.

RRQi will be putting up posts in the future, highlighting and promoting snake catchers who help us rescuing reptiles and getting them to medical care.

If you are willing to help, please comment on this post/the original post and we will get in touch.

Please share this post far and wide, and tag your favourite snake catcher in the comments so they will definitely see the post.
Thank you
