Here at EMPVS we pride ourselves on always providing the best quality care without compromise for all of our clients- both the human and fur variety and we are commited to your long term positive health outcomes. We love to see our clients but operate by appointment only. While we think of you all as extended family we allocate consultations times carefully to ensure the safety and well being of a

ll of our clients- believe it or not, not many dogs love cats and visa versa! If your pet has an emergency please call ahead of attending the clinic, this will allow us to give you vital first aid instructions and also prepare for your arrival. We pride ourselves on providing the best quality care, we understand how important our pets are to our families and want to make sure that they stay happy and healthy for as long as possible. Just like people we know every animal is unique and are commited to working with owners to provide the best suited care for your pets needs. We pride ourselves on providing expert advice, backed by the best tools. equiptment and up to the minute training to ensure we always deliver the best care. Sometimes this means we need to make tough calls and advise a diagnosis, treatment or operation that might be necassary. Rest assured we have your best interests at heart and will be there with you at every step to ensure the best possible outcome. Please note- we CANNOT provide a diagnosis over the phone and will always request you come see us so we can perform a proper examination and make an accurate assessment. We are passionate about prevention, prevention is better (and cheaper!) than the cure. One of the easiest ways to stay in good health is to ensure basic prevention is always up to date, we're talking fleas, ticks, heartworm and intestinal worming, vaccinations and follow up appointments. Sure tablets and needles arn't much fun but neither is heartworm, tick paralysis or preventable disease. We will check and update your file at each appointment and help keep you up to date. We do not sell most products over the counter (Popantel, our intestinal wormer is the exception) but will happily order them in for clients or direct you where best to buy. We understand that sometimes choosing a product can be tricky so we are always happy to advise about the latest and best products. All payment is required in full at the end of each appointment. In exceptional circumstances we are happy to review this and work with clients. That said we think Pet Insurance is money well invested and worth looking into for your furry friend. We offer the best value hydrobath in town- $8 every Saturday (by appointment only). This is a service we run as a reward for clients and is why we keep the price so low. It is a condition of booking that your our pets vaccination, heart and intestinal worming and flea control are all up to date, if you are not a regular clinet of the surgery we will need vet history from your current vet to reflect this. This is a safety protocol for your pets and others. New clients to the practice will also need to bring with them any previous vet history, just like us little things from our past that might not seem important could make a BIG differance to treatment plans and/or diagnosis. Every detail in your pets history is important and as veterinary professionals we need all the pieces of the puzzle in order to provide the best care. This history also helps us keep vacciantions and worming up to date. We require this history BEFORE we can make any initial bookings for your pets so that we have time to review this information and learn about your pet before the first time we see them. If obtaining a history from your previous vet is problematic then we must assume that vaccinations and preventative health are out of date and will start at what we call 'Time Zero' to get your pet up to date.

Hands up if you have a pet (or pets)! 🙋

Did you know you can ease stress just by patting a dog or watching fish swim in an aquarium? So awesome! đŸļ 🐠

Studies have shown that interacting with your pets can lower cortisol (stress hormone) levels. This also helps your physical health by decreasing blood pressure and improving heart health. ❤ī¸

Animals (such as therapy dogs) are often used in a healthcare setting to help reduce anxiety and to provide comfort and support when people are unwell.

Check out some of the ways owning a pet can be just the thing you need to boost your mental health and wellbeing. 👇

The unregulated Australian pet food industry

Pet food is a multi-billion-dollar global industry, yet in Australia it's still widely unregulated. Animals and their owners are paying the ultimate price.

An animal shelter posted something along the lines of "if you are an adult and don't want people to know you are playing pokemon, we will rent our shelter dogs to you for $5 an hour so it
looks like you are walking your dog." Haha, right? Here are some of the results so far:

1) They now have a waiting list of people who want to PAY FOR THE PRIVELAGE OF WALKING A DOG.

2) They have made so much money in "rental fees" that they have waived adoption fees

3) When the people renting the dogs are out walking, the post pictures of themselves playing the game on FB and Instagram. People are then coming to the
shelter asking to adopt specific dogs.

4) On at least two occasions, people have called the shelter and said "Hey, i didn't think I wanted a dog. But me and THIS dog get along REALLY well. I'm not bringing him back"

5) The shelter currently has no dogs avaliable to rent, and there is a waiting list. Because all of the dogs have been adopted!! They are currently bringing dogs in from a different shelter to be "rented"
