✨ Today is international blind dog day! ✨

Solo is one of my personal dogs and he has progressive retinal atrophy. This means that he is slowly going blind. As his eyesight worsens, he has become a bit more reactive to sounds and the world around him. However, this does not mean that he isn’t living his best life!

In saying this, Solo has asked me to apologies for his barking when you arrive for your pups appointment, and he assures me that he is doing his very best on working on his reactivity! And to show you that he is sorry, he has asked me to show you some of his goofiest moments. Solo thanks you all so much for your love and understanding ❤️

💗 Miss Rika the Akita 💗

At Boop I tailor each grooming appointment to your pups needs and I did jut that for Rika! Rika can have anxiety being away from her favorite human, can be weary of new people and can also react to sudden movements and sounds. To help Rika feel safe and confident I closed the awnings on the windows to reduce sudden and unexpecting movement, played relaxing puppy music to help her feel calm and went slow and steady while reassuring her. She did so well! Today was the second time she came to see me, I put the same plan into place with calming music and having the awnings down and she was absolutely amazing!

I will always put your pup’s physical and emotional needs and safety first. This may mean that your pup isn’t groomed perfectly but it does mean that your pup will feel safter and be happier and more confident to return for their next groom!

🌸 Happy girl Canela 🌸

Canela came in for a Hand strip session. She was previously clip but we are slowly getting her back to getting her coat into a condition where we are able to strip her entire body. It is a long road but well worth it! She was a very good girl!

Hand stripping is a grooming technique primarily used for wire-haired dog breeds, such as terriers and some spaniels, to maintain the characteristic texture and appearance of their coats. Unlike clipping or using electric trimmers, hand stripping involves manually pulling out the dead outer coat or "guard hairs" by hand or with a specialised stripping tool. This process helps to encourage the growth of new, healthy hair and preserves the natural colour and texture of the coat.
