At Lithgow kennels we keep small team of racedogs and puppies so that we can give each dog the care and attention they deserve. All our outdoor kennels and runs are snake proofed and our aim is to provide quality over quantity. We can guarantee our dogs are better cared for and in better condition than most of the bigger kennels. Mel works at the Lort Smith Animal Hospital and so is well across th

e veterinary care, treatment and diets of each of the dogs while Sean focuses on the training programs for the racedogs and education of the pups. Its a true partnership which requires the input of both for success! Hopefully this page will succeed in keeping our owners across the happenings at Lithgow Kennels

Neverland King (Pan) took home a win in a Victorian Coursing Classic the Ray Boundy Memorial today at Longwood.
Definitely one of the most frustrating dogs we have even owned, Pan definitely doesn’t enjoy normal racing (understatement of the day!) but thoroughly enjoys the one on one competition of coursing. Without coursing this dog would have been on a rehoming waiting list months ago but instead we decided to give him one more season even after he broke a toe right before the season began. A top 4 finalist in the 2023 Waterloo Cup and runner up in the Sylvester Doyle Puppy Championship, he can now add a Ray Boundy Memorial trophy to the cabinet just like his mum Gotham Queen who won the event in 2018 & 2019

Three more of the Aussie Infrared*Gotham Baroness pups got to have their first go in the bullring today. Walter here was also a natural. Only 8 months old. This was his first go by himself after doing a lap with his coach and mum Indy.

Very nice win by Luna (Gotham Marquess) at Traralgon tonight in a heat of the Latrobe Valley Cup. Thus earning her spot in Friday Nights Final. Fingers crossed she can make the most of Box 1 in the Final.

Edit: these girls are not available to pet homes. They will be sold as racing dogs only.

Ursula was a natural with her first trip to the bull ring this morning. First lap she went with her mum so Indy could show her what to do, next lap Ursula was grabbing on all by herself.

Ursula is a spitting image of her mum and is from our 7 month old Aussie Infrared x Gotham Baroness litter.

Not often do we put placings up but this run by Medusa (Mythical Queen) was outstanding against some of the best dogs in the Traralgon Cup heats. Unfortunately she left enough room on the rail for the 3 to punch up or it might have been a different story. A lot of dogs would have turned their nose up after getting knocked sideways but she kept knuckling down and ran into 3rd. Hopefully next time Medusa. Video below.

I found an old stuffed toy this morning and thought I’d offer it to the 9 Aussie Infrared x Gotham Baroness puppies. After a vigorous tug-of-war, lasting over 2 minutes, the cow exploded. Great to see all 9 puppies getting involved and well done Beau (navy blue collar) who eventually ran off victorious

Toy time for some of the Aussie Infrared*Gotham Baroness pups. Mel was never going to win this tug of war. 12 weeks old today!

Cassie would love to start 2024 on your couch!
This little lady (25kg) has spent time in foster care where she has learnt the joys of inside life and the magical toy basket!
She would be best suited to someone who is home most of the time (either work from home or retirees), she isn't suitable for a home with young children as she is still working on how to politely greet people and how to share her toys. If you leave her at home, she will greet you like you have been gone forever!
She has met small dogs on walks and will politely say hello before continuing on, she is not cat friendly. She doesn't experience any resource guarding or sleep startle and once settled, is happy to be wherever her humans are.
Cassie broke her back leg as a puppy and has a plate and screws in her leg, however you wouldn't know it as she zooms past. She may experience some arthritis as she gets older but has received a clean bill of health at her recent dental and desexing.

Cassie is a very lucky girl. She has got the chance to go into foster with the wonderful Christina in the lead up to Christmas. So far so good. She looks so happy. Thankyou Christina! The dogs are very lucky to have u teaching them the ropes of pet life. Speaking of happy, here is a photo of Flo at the vet with Mel. She loves visiting all her friends at Sandown Veterinary Clinic and is pretty sure all the staff there are only employed to shower her with love and pats.

We were all shattered when Medusa (Mythical Queen) played up 2 starts back. When we found out she had badly damaged a stopper, we kind of understood why she lashed out. After 6 weeks confinement followed by a further 5 weeks of very slowly building her up, Medusa showed she has returned to the star we know she is with a best of the night run at Geelong tonight. Some very happy owners at the Glen Eira AFC and some very relieved trainers. So proud of her. Video below.

Been a little while in between drinks for the team but it was nice for Luna (Gotham Marquess) to get a last stride win after a long wait for Race 12 at Warragul tonight. Good effort from Quinn (Astute Queen) to battle home for 3rd after returning from a hock strain. Video of tonight win below.

Well deserved win from Flo (Amazonian Queen). She really finished off well for an impressive win. Video below.

In the words of James Van De Maat, patience and persistence does pay off! Jasmine (Arabian Princess) broke through to win her maiden today at start number 16.
We didn't think she was strong enough to survive the first week of her life, after being born much smaller than her siblings but she is a gutsy, bossy little dog who is starting to show her potential on the race track. Thanks again coursing for improving her fitness!

After starting the 150th running of the Waterloo Cup with 46 competitors, we are down to the final 6 which will continue to the finals next week and amazingly 3 of them are from Lithgow Kennels. Medusa (Mythical Queen), Quinn (Astute Queen) and Pan (Neverland King) did us very proud each winning 3 courses to make it this far. They are up against it next week but you never know what can happen in racing and they will give it their best. Their Mum (Gotham Queen) will be very proud of them and cheering them on from Heaven as they do what she loved best.

A first for our kennel with 4 wins today from 9 events. Matilda (Gotham Queen) would be so proud of her Aussie Infrared litter teaming up for 4 wins including both the features. Medusa (Mythical Queen) took out the Longwood Cup and Quinn (Astute Queen) took out the Bert Clark Memorial. Koda (Norse Queen) and Star (Queen of Fate) also won their first events. I guess when your Mum is an Oaks Winner and your Dad is a Derby Winner, you are bred to be a great coursing dog but they have had to work hard to get to this point. Couldn't be any prouder of the team!
