Lets discuss.......KEEPING YOUR PETS WARM IN WINTER 🌑🌑
🐾 Providing adequate shelter and protection from the rain and wind is very important.
🐾 Elevated warm sleeping area and away from drafts especially if your pet is elderly.
🐾 Ensure you have good protection and safety if using heaters and open flames burners.
🐾Your pets may need more food during the colder months to keep them warm, because animals need more energy to keep their core body temperature regulated when it’s cold. However, don’t go overboard with the food.
🐾Winter jacket will help them keep warm and maintain their body temperature when it gets colder. This is particularly important for our very young fur babies, older pets and short-coated breeds. Ensure they are comfortable and in line with fashion style of your beloved four legged friend 😁
🐾 Exercising is very important, don't let them turn into a couch potato during the winter months. Outdoor play is best but if it’s raining you could play indoor instead, do some trick training to keep there mind active, use food-dispensing toys to stop from becoming bored or have an indoor doggy play date.
🐾 If your pet suffers from arthritis, keeping warm will help ease the pain.
🐾And remember cuddles with your fur babies make their and your heart warmer πŸ’–πŸ’–

Get moving again with 4cyte!
4cyte is a product which contains ingredients to help with cartilage repair, joints injury and arthritis.
4cyte addresses the cause of the pain rather than delivering symptomatic relief- which is why we recommend 4cyte by itself or in conjunction with another arthritic injection for dogs who may be struggling with joint issues. We stock this product in the 200ml gel and 100g granules regularly so if needed, call us on 07 3202 71554 or pop in to chat with our friendly staff about the product.

08/05/2024

Feline lower urinary tract disease (FLUTD) describes a variety of conditions that affect the bladder and urethra of cats.

Cats with FLUTD most often show signs of difficulty and pain when urinating, increased frequency of urination, and blood in the urine.

Cats with FLUTD also tend to lick themselves excessively and may urinate outside the litter box and sometimes in your bed.

While FLUTD can occur at any age, it is usually seen in middle-aged, overweight cats that get little exercise, use an indoor litter box, have little or no outdoor access, or eat a dry diet.

Factors such as emotional or environment stress, multi-cat households, and abrupt changes in daily routine may also increase the risk that a cat will develop FLUTD.

If you can is showing any of the above symptoms or not urinating at all contact us on 07 3202 1554 immediately

Ear Infections in Dogs
Skin inside the ear is just an extension of normal skin. Many dogs that have issues with skin can often suffer from ear problems. The ear canal in dogs has different anatomical features from the human ear. It is made of a horizontal and vertical ear canal. The pinna (ear flap) can also occlude the opening of the ear contributing even further to complications.
What causes ear infections?
There are many culprits such as allergy/atopy, ear mites, and foreign bodies, excessive production of keratin in the ear canal, tumours and polyps. Other factors that may contribute to the problem are if the ear canal is too narrow (Shar Pei), overproduction of wax (Cocker Spaniel), floppy and hairy ears, lots of swimming (Labradors), genetic factors, reaction to medication and systemic disorder such as hypothyroidism. Some breeds are more predisposed to this problem such as Poodles, Retrievers, Spaniels and Shar Pei.
What are the symptoms?
Redness of ears, pain, head tilt, smelly discharge, unusual behaviour, scratching ears are often noticed. Head shaking, narrow ear canal, dry skin on in the ear canal and difficulties walking (ataxia) can also be noticed.
Could your dog have an ear infection? If the above sounds like your dog call our team on 07 3202 1554 to book in!

Why do we ask for pets to be fasted before surgery?

Just like with human surgery we ask that pets undergo a fasting period before their surgery or sedation. If a pet has eaten during the 8 hours before their surgery, their stomach contents can be regurgitated, leading to complications in surgery/sedation.

Your pet can have water available until admission time.
Being honest about when your pet last ate is extremely important as it allows us to keep your pet safe and healthy. 😊

12/04/2024

The deciduous (or β€˜baby’) teeth of dogs are normally replaced entirely by adult teeth by six-seven months of age. Sometimes baby teeth, particularly the canines, remain in the mouth beyond this age. These are called retained teeth, and cause problems due to overcrowding in the mouth that can lead to injury and dental disease. It is recommended retained teeth are removed as soon as possible to avoid further damage to the mouth.
If you notice your pet has retained deciduous teeth call our team on 07 3202 1554 to work out a treatment plan!
