As 2023 draws to a close, many of us will be reflecting on the year that's been. We've had ups and downs, times of happiness and times of sadness, and some of us have lost dear members of our families.

It can be really daunting, starting the new year without them ever by your side. Be gentle with yourselves and take the time to grieve and to remember them as they were. While they'll never be replaced, and while it feels like a part of us has also gone with them, their memories linger and comfort us, and happy memories with them are never too far away.

For me, it's truly been a privilege being able to help those pets that need to go, go on their way with peace. I've been welcomed into the homes of many now, and witnessed again and again the amazing bond between humans and our furry companions. They love and trust us unconditionally and we return this alike. As their time on earth ends and they lie down the one final time, it has been incredible to witness the outpouring of love, care and support from their families.

With 2024 brings new experiences, adventures, and hopefully, new opportunities to share meaning. Hug your loved ones closer tonight!

The social media journey begins! For those that know me, I'm not great at posting on social media, but I am very much dedicated to being a veterinarian and to providing gold standard, empathetic veterinary care. Vet clinics are getting busier and busier, and it's often difficult there to find a little extra time, or the quiet and calm for the services that need them the most.

That's why I've set up Hold My Paws - a visiting vet euthanasia and palliative care service created to provide a comforting and respectful environment for owners to say goodbye to their pets as they pass peacefully, on their own terms, in the comfort of their favourite surroundings.

The old age/end of life part of having an animal companion can be hard to navigate, as you try to work out what's best for them. It never gets easier either, no matter how many pets you've had come into your life. It's the part of pet ownership owners dread. There's no right or wrong way to go about it, and we're here to provide guidance and support for you through this journey. We offer in-home Quality of Life assessments, palliative care and eventually, a gentle goodbye when the time comes, with family all around. We arrange all of the aftercare for you, and can help you preserve the cherished memories you have of them with bespoke memorial services, cremation and keepsakes.
