Alistair Mackinlay and I on behalf of Hermitage Dressage are so proud to continue to present this award each year in conjunction with our great friend and mentor Uwe Spenlen. It has been wonderful to see the standards continue to rise ! Thank you to Dressage Western Australia and Equestrian Western Australia for supporting our vision - and allowing us time each year at the Awards Night to say a few words about WA's incredible horse and rider combinations - our 2019 winners being Emma Hayward and PHP Sophia, runner up Astrid Grov with BML Silhouette and the FEI winner Kjersti Grov with Kinnordy Rheingold.

Olympic 5* FEI judge and trainer LILO FORE touches down in Perth today! So what’s on her Schedule in addition to the fully booked Rider’s Clinic?

Friday 1st February at the State Equestrian Centre: E level Judge, Coach and Rider Seminar commencing at 8:30am. Tickets $35 at the door. E level is all about moving upwards from Preliminary and Novice to Elementary and beyond.

SATURDAY night is MASTERCLASS NIGHT!!!!! 2nd February from 6pm at the State Equestrian Centre. Tickets $35 at the door rom message to secure one of the last 9 VIP tickets - The Stepping Stones to Collection !!!!!

Huge thanks to Gidgegannup Dressage Club for hosting a great training day last Sunday....we were very excited to take one of our youngest team members out for his first spin in a competition environment - introducing "Rogue Nation HD" - a lovely big 4 year old with nice paces and a good brain....he was a little overwhelmed to start with but worked through it with Bessie and produced some lovely work in front of the judges (thank you for your patience!!!)......cant wait to get this boy out and about for his first competition soon. Great job Bessie Traylen and thanks to our amazing support team Neetie Yreme and Janetta Traylen.

Wow we have ended up with near on 150 tests for our 6th May Competition! For those that ask about progeny by our boys - here is our first Aussie born son of Skywalker bred by DvZ Stud and now owned by Hayley Johnson winning the Horseland 4 year old young event horse class at the State Equestrian Centre today - massive congrats to all involved - the judges awarded DVZ Solitaire 9.8 for type and conformation !!!! Wow...

We have a part time stable hand position coming available in early July through to October here at Hermitage Dressage. Several afternoons per week and some weekends - good pay and conditions for the right person - it's a great job to earn some extra $ and enjoy some lovely ponies - please PM your interest or ask further questions.

So grateful that Jessie Lloyd was in action today at the Perth Dressage Club competition at the State Equestrian Centre and provided us with this gorgeous snap of Stately and Bessie competing in their first elementary competition (a first for both) - a few glitches today to land a 6th place but we think they look special ....they topped of with their day with a great win in the Novice! Good going kids!

Due to the tragic death in eventing at the weekend at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre, the Masterclass at the State Equestrian Centre will now be a day early WEDNESDAY 4th MAY 2015 to allow Christoph Hess to return to Sydney to judge the rescheduled competition - please advise everyone you know and recheck your schedules - we hope to see you on WEDNESDAY 4th MAY 2015 - TICKETS AT THE DOOR....

The weather gods have certainly thrown out some challenges for our competitions with our dancing princess Dolce so far this year - yesterday we attended the April competition hosted by Transitions Inc. next door to our old property in Palomino Place (which looked fabulous!) - undaunted - Steph and Dolce this time channelled their inner Billy Connolly and went for the 'windswept and interesting' look as the wind blew a gale and blasted them down the centre line to complete a wonderful Novice 2.3 test which the judges kindly awarded a 78.534% to take the win in a seriously classy competition field - wow dressage in WA is on the rise!!!! It was a long day for Dolce (she tells us!) and she was not so focussed in her first attempt at Elementary later in the day - despite this still achieving a 3rd place and a respectable 66% - it was wonderful being back at Transitions Inc. with so many friendly faces and such a well organised day - lots of catch ups were enjoyed. Thank you as always to Dolce's super jockey Steph Spencer who continues to amaze us on so many levels - Steph's massively supportive family (Deb and Richard Spencer) , all of the Hermitage Dressage crew that make these successes possible (Kathy Wright, Vanessa Hancox and Gary Woolaway), cheerleader in chief - my mum - who is always there with yummy food and the ability to operate a video and our beloved Narelle Helsemans ......so lucky to enjoy this sport with such incredible friends, family and ponies, with the support of my endlessly patient husband Alistair Mackinlay (thank you ###) - watch out Daim - your turn next weekend!!!!!!

Steph helped Dolce channel her inner sea horse over the Easter weekend at her first competition for 2016 - despite the weather, Dolce put her best foot forward for Steph at the Gidgegannup Dressage Club Master Series qualifying round at the State Equestrian Centre and completed a very careful Novice test in a big class to take the win with just shy of 74% - Dolce is such a generous girl and took the mud and rain in her powerful stride - thanks Steph for guiding Dolce so beautifully and developing her confidence - exciting for her to be stepping up to Elementary soon - thanks to the wonderful Gidgegannup team for the day - and as always to our home team and those that keep the HD ponies sound, healthy, supple and happy...roll on 2016.

We are delighted that the 2016 competition year has started so well for the HD Team - our beloved stallion Skywalker under the guidance of Steph Spencer has been our pathfinder, stepping up to Medium level for 2 wins from 2 starts. This past Sunday saw competitors, judges and volunteers brave a hot and windy morning at the State Equestrian Centre for the 3rd round of Project Neon FEI Showcase Series. Steph and Sky really pulled out all of the stops and produced a beautiful focussed test with the lateral work, flying changes and 'big trot' absolute highlights - a big win with a big score of 72.5% - THRILLED - now the trick is to keep up the good work! Many thanks to Melissa Barry Emery and her team for such a wonderful friendly and organised event with lots of fun prizes to enjoy - and to the sponsors, volunteers and other competitors that make these days possible. Fun also to have the awesome groom along - mum - Neetie Yreme - biggest thanks of all of course to Stephstar for turning dreams into reality for Team HD and making it so much fun along the way xx (Thanks Rebecca De Vries for the super cute pic of Sky and Steph going sideways).

So ! A long awaited day at Hermitage Dressage as our cool man Skywalker debuted at Medium level at the Summer Series Competition at the State Equestrian Centre today.....although a little distracted (it is breeding season after all) he demonstrated some breathtaking medium trot and exciting flying changes (just a few more than were needed Sky!) to take the win today with a respectable score just shy of 66% - thank you to everyone who cheered Sky and Stephstar on today. - he just loves the clapping and whistles when he finishes - it is impossible to adequately convey my appreciation of all of the hard work, skill and dedication that Sky's rider Steph Spencer has put into developing the talent of this gorgeous horse so I will just say THANK YOU again Steph ### (BTW Sky is available for breeding until the end of Feb 2016 for those still planning their 2017 foal - contact us for details).
