πŸ†˜ FOSTER CARER CALL-OUT πŸ†˜

We are looking for people interested in fostering a dog or puppy from Dec 23rd. There will be a range of dogs - adults, puppies, large, small, old and young.

Some rural pounds shut down over the festive season and minimal resources in these remote areas results in any dogs not collected before their closing date losing their lives.

Now this is not a post for people to start bashing the pound system and the rangers that run them. This is a post to encourage people to help us save lives.

About fostering:
β–ͺ️ we match appropriate dogs to foster homes as best as we can to ensure it is an enjoyable experience. You don’t have to have fostering experience but you do need to have some dog experience.
β–ͺ️ all veterinary costs are covered by us, we have donated food available from the wonderful SavourLife, a crate and some other supplies can be provided as well.
β–ͺ️ Sydney, blue mountains, southern highlands, central coast, Wollongong and surrounds are all within driving distance of our affiliated vets.
β–ͺ️ we do all the finding and interviewing of potential homes - you just focus on the dog and do a meet when we match an adopter. This process can take anywhere from 3 weeks to a couple of months or more depending on the dog. Let us know what time you can offer so we know what we have to work with.

How to help:

Make sure your pets are up to date with tick prevention! If you need more information please email us at [email protected] or message our page.

⚠️LOW TO NO tick antiserum Australia wide

This means if your furry family member gets a tick and isn’t on a preventive it will now be even more difficult for your vet to currently treat.

The best thing we can do for our pets to avoid even needing to see a vet for treatment due to tick envenomation is to make sure they are on a well-rounded preventative and to triple check your current preventive NOW to make sure it also covers paralysis ticks!

Steps to follow to keep your loved fur-members safer and to avoid seeing a vet due to tick envenomation include:

β€’ Providing your pet with a preventative
β€’ Ensuring preventatives are taken as frequently as the box recommends
β€’ Set a calendar reminder for when preventatives are due
β€’ Checking your pet DAILY for ticks
β€’ Keeping your grass short

Unfortunately, we are seeing high numbers of tick cases this year, but the good news is there are easy at home steps you can take to keep your pets from experiencing life-threating tick envenomation. We are so lucky to have tick prevention products available for our pets so it’s important we are giving this to them.

Even with the treatment shortages, there are still ways we can help your pets. If you find a tick on your fur-member the safest thing to do is contact your vet. If they are on a preventative and you are worried please still call your vet πŸΎπŸ’œπŸ©Ί

We’d like to introduce Quartz who is a delightful tiny dog!

She has now been listed for adoption and all her details are available in her profile. Quartz would love a daily walk and a home with an owner who is home most of the time.

Please read through her profile carefully before applying.

Now that things have settled some and we no longer run the risk of upsetting the squeamish, we can confirm that Alibi is 100% back to his annoying ass self who can't sit still for 2 minutes.

There's still some swelling but everything is heading in the right direction.
.. still in awe at the kick-ass haircut Dr Michael from Kingsgrove Animal Hospital gave him!

COVID 19 update: we will still be open for normal consulting and surgery but will not be doing the following procedures:

1. Nail clips
2. Wing clips
3. A**l glands expressions

And also food or medication pickups need to be ordered over the phone prior to entering the building at a designated time to limit foot traffic.

At the moment we are limiting it to 1 person entering the building per household/family per visit. You will also be required to wear a mask and not be able to enter the consult room with the Vet to limit movement. You will also need to check-in, and this will be confirmed by our staff upon entering the building. We also ask that you take a seat when you enter if you are coming in for a consult in seats closest to the front door.

If you are from the restricted LGAs including Canterbury-Bankstown please only book an appointment if it is absolutely necessary/an emergency at least for the next few weeks until it all settles down. Vaccinations can probably wait for a few weeks. Please call or message the clinic during opening hours for more info or message this page and one of our Vets can chat with you regarding your pet(s).

Stay safe and let's get through this before summer!

Does your pet have STINKY BREATH!? We have a new water additive available that will eliminate smelly teeth. This type of product is not normally promoted by us given all contain some sort of alcohol/xylitol/chlorhexidine which are considered potentially harmful. Oxy-fresh does not contain any of these harmful additives. Pop by to grab some oxy-fresh and perhaps a quick Dental Check to see if any intervention is needed!
