☕ A Huge Thank You to Wyndhams Coffee and Buzz Box Café 🐾
We just want to take a moment to say how grateful we are to Wyndhams Coffee, a wonderful Barbadian company making some truly exceptional coffees while giving back to the island’s animals. Their Cane Dog Coffee blend, named after the lovable stray dogs of Barbados – affectionately known as “Cane Dogs” – is such a special nod to these amazing pups. 🐶💛
And speaking of espresso (did you catch the musical reference?), this coffee boasts delicious notes of chocolate, nuts, and a dark, roasty finish. What’s even more special is that Wyndhams donates 10% of all proceeds from Cane Dog to help support Ocean Acres, providing shelter, care, and educational support to communities in Barbados. 🙌
A huge thank you as well to Buzz Box Café for choosing Cane Dog Coffee as their house blend and supporting our four-legged friends at Ocean Acres. Whether you’re enjoying an espresso, cappuccino, flat white, or iced coffee, each cup of Cane Dog is helping make a real difference! ☕🐕
You can find Cane Dog Coffee at coffee shops, restaurants, and supermarkets across Barbados. And for those of you outside the island, you can still get your hands on this amazing coffee by visiting Wyndhams’ website to order online. 🌍
Thank you for helping us make a difference, one cup at a time! 🤎

😮 15 Dogs in 7 Days.
This week, we’ve rescued 15 dogs from the streets and difficult home situations—15 lives saved, 15 stories that could have ended in tragedy. And that's just us. We are certain many have been rescued by others this week.
But behind these 15 stories, there are countless others we couldn’t help. 🐾 2 tiny puppies drowned, dead next to the exhausted mother in the downpour, under an inadequate, unsafe box that is meant to be “shelter.” Countless calls for help we had to say no to this week alone. The truth is, we simply don’t have the resources to help every person, dog or cat in desperate need.
Yes - we urgently need donations 💸, and we desperately need fosters and adopters 🏡. But more than that, we need people to take action where it counts.
Are you an influencer? Do you know one? 📢 We need your help. Are you a person who cares? We need your help. Speak to the politicians, community leaders, business leaders, and church leaders you know. Let them know this issue is important to you, that it’s something that needs to be improved. Talk about your concerns and what it says about empathy and kindness in our country—it’s important.
If you have actionable solutions, or can help in ways big or small, we want to hear from you. Please get in touch via direct messages or WhatsApp us at +1 (246) 262-4505.
Let’s work together to promote kindness, practical decision-making, and a deeper understanding of what it means to be responsible for another life. 💡
The problem is bigger than these 15 dogs— it’s a societal issue that we must address together. Let’s work towards a future where stories like theirs are the exception, not the norm.
Right here. Right now. Join us in making Barbados a safer, kinder place for all. 💙

We absolutely loved this post from @dr.mattmcglasson and had to remix it! Thanks, Dr. Matt, for reminding us that being a "cat lady" or "cat dad" is definitely a compliment—it's basically a superhero title. 🐱💪 We have so many wonderful cats at Ocean Acres looking for their forever homes.
If you’re already a cat person, post a photo below, and let’s flood the feed with positive vibes!

Please Help Us Support Babba’s Family. His humans have fallen on very hard times and we have stepped in to help. Babba is only 3 weeks old and was sadly rejected by his very thin and hungry mother, so we had to find him a foster mum to care for him. He is safe now. His two siblings are still struggling with skin issues, and mum doesn’t have enough to eat. Also living on the property are two adult male dogs, both in need of food and medicines.
Babba’s human is deeply upset that he can’t provide as he would like to, and is working with us to turn things around.
Here’s how we are helping:
Once well enough the mother and both male dogs will be neutered.
We’ve wormed the puppies and will monitor them closely. We want them to stay with their mother for at least 2-3 more weeks.
We’ve provided food for the adult dogs.
We arranged a foster home for little boy Babba, after being vet checked.
Heres how you can help this family:
Donate Funds: monetary donations allow us to buy food, medications, pay vet bills and help to rehome.
Donate Food: If you prefer, you can donate actual food directly.
Foster Homes Needed: We urgently need a temporary home for the friendly male dog and, in a few weeks, fosters for the puppies.
Our Barbadian communities face significant challenges. Your help is crucial in making a difference. Regardless of size, every donation, every act of kindness, brings us closer to ensuring these dogs get the care and love they deserve. Your contribution, no matter how small, is vital and greatly appreciated.
Let’s unite as a community to support these animals and their kind but struggling owner. ❤️ To Donate go to our web site or contact us directly. Mark your contribution as “Babba’s family” to help us keep track.
Your generosity can make a world of difference. We are deeply grateful for your support.
To Foster or for More Information, contact us via WhatsApp at 1-246-262-4505.

These are just 4 of many puppies that we have, available for adoption.
They are all GORGEOUS, but, every day we get calls from individuals who want to surrender puppies.
PLEASE NEUTER YOUR PETS.
We can’t take in any more puppies, we are at capacity.
If you want to help, consider fostering. You truly can save lives and it’s really rewarding. Puppies benefit hugely from being in a home environment.
Have questions or need reassurance? Talk to us, we have experience and we can put you in touch with people who’ve fostered many times. 🙏 YOU can make a difference. 🙏

🐶🐱 Are you REALLY prepared? Barbados is being asked to be ready for an extra active hurricane season. Pet safety is often overlooked. Here are some crucial tips to help you be ready:
1) Stay Calm: Pets pick up on our stress, so keeping your emotions in check is essential. 🧘♀️
2) Disaster Kit: Have a week’s supply of medical essentials, food, water. Don’t forget to secure important documents, and if possible have a crate, and a pet first-aid kit available.
3) Photo ID: Keep a photo your pet for identification in case you get separated.
4) ID Tag: Make sure your pet wears a tag with your contact info. Share these tips with friends and family to help them keep their pets safe as well.🌪️ #HurricanePreparedness #PetSafety #oceanacresanimalsanctuary
📢 Urgent Call for Volunteers! 📢
We are in desperate need of volunteers to assist at our Spay Neuter cat clinic tomorrow (Monday) in Woodbourne, St Philip. If you're available to lend a hand, please MESSAGE via WhatsApp at 1 (246) 822 9501.
Clinics typically start at 8 am and run until around 1 pm, based on the number of cats and volunteers. We rotate venues across the island to reach as many communities as possible.
There are various ways you can contribute, from assisting in the clinic area itself to shaving cats and other tasks under the vet's supervision. You could also help by meeting clients, aiding them with consent forms, and notifying them when their cats are ready for collection.
One crucial role involves cleaning and sterilizing surgical packs (using a pressure cooker) to ensure they're swiftly ready for reuse in the clinic. Additionally, the cleanup effort is vital, but with many hands, the work becomes lighter.
Why not join our small yet incredible team and make a positive impact on the lives of cats in Barbados? You don't need to handle cats unless you're comfortable, and no prior medical experience is necessary.
For more details, please WhatsApp 1 (246) 822 9501.
Let's come together and make a difference! 🐾#VolunteerOpportunity #HelpingCats #BarbadosCommunity #OceanAcresAnimalSanctuary #spayandneuter
This is the story of Saint (now called Max). He was rescued from the street and taken to the vet. He had nowhere to go and like so many, he ended up with us.
His lucky day came when repeat visitors from the UK came and fell in love with him. They already have one of our dogs, imagine how thrilled we were that they wanted to take another. Saint got a new name, and a new life. We couldn’t be happier for him. ❤️✈️🇬🇧

This little kitten is lonely. Her name is Sweet Sweet - and she really is. She’s so affectionate and would love to have someone to cuddle with. As you can see, she has eye problems and is undergoing treatment. She currently has 3 different eye drops. She may be blind. Our first priority was to make her comfortable and not in pain.
Can you give this adorable girl some love ? A foster home would work. We will cover the vet bills. She must be an indoor cat and must 💯 be kept secure. Blind cats manage really well so don’t let that put you off.
She deserves a loving home, she has so much love to give.
Let’s help to stop crying. 😢

Here’s an update on the latest dogs, now happy and safe in Canada. None of these dogs have a good start, but we make sure they have every chance for the future.
It’s not easy; organizing the travel is a logistical nightmare, but we get it done, in spite of setbacks we refuse to give up.
Thanks to our amazing rescue partners and volunteers in Canada who are there every step of the way and know just what it takes to pull this off, time and time again.
We would be nowhere without our travel buddies, who volunteer so graciously - we salute you.
We hugely appreciate the services of our vets who go extra miles to fit us in for last minute appointments.
THANK YOU

💔 Heartbreaking Reality: Abandoned Kittens Need Your Help 💔
Today, in Barbados, we bring you a story that sadly reflects a harsh reality: the abandonment and neglect of innocent feline souls. Despite the attention rightfully given to abandoned dogs, our island is also home to countless abandoned cats and kittens facing dire circumstances daily.
This morning, our hearts shattered again when a kind-hearted individual stumbled upon a heartbreaking sight: a box left by the roadside housing tiny, defenseless kittens. Left to fend for themselves, these babies were ill-equipped to survive. 😢
A dedicated volunteer from our Safe Cats of Barbados program rushed to their aid. Their swift action exemplifies compassion
What she found was utterly devastating. Among the litter, one kitten's condition was so severe that the most compassionate option was to grant peace from their suffering. The remaining two had not been spared. Their eyes clouded with infection, their fragile bodies infested with fleas and ticks. The box held a cruel temptation: an open can of tuna, attracting a swarm of ants who relentlessly pecked at the kittens' eyes, adding to the agony.
Currently, the survivors are under intensive care at a vet clinic. If the two survive a loving fosters has volunteered to provide them with the nurturing care they deserve as they heal. 🏥
But they are not alone. Across the island are countless other abandoned kittens, each with their own harrowing tale.
Today, we implore you: if you have space in your heart and home to offer, please consider becoming a foster. If you have never fostered before, we can help train you. Your kindness rewrite their stories from abandonment and despair to love, hope, and resilience. 💕
Contact us via WhatsApp at 1 917 8866218 to provide a haven for kittens in need. 📱
Also, please consider donating to support the kittens' care via the website link in bio. 🐾
We thought you might like an update on Warren.
We’re so pleased that he’s doing really well.
Warren now has a waggy tail and is happy to see people; he seems to very much appreciate his change of circumstances. He must be so relieved to be free of the nasty collar that was fastened tight around his neck and leg. He has a significant wound where it was digging into him for so long.
Warrens recovery plan involves twice weekly laser treatments at @centralvetbim which will assist with the healing. He needs to do this for about 4 weeks - 8 treatments. If anyone would like to donate to his treatments, the link is in our bio, or go to our website, or message for information.
Warren can walk on his leg and we expect him to make a good recovery.

We were delighted to welcome a lovely group from the Learning Center, at Orange Hill, St James.
Two weeks ago we visited their school where we did the first part of our education program. These are pictures of their follow up field trip to Ocean Acres.
There was a mixed age group, between 6 and 14 years old.
After a short introduction we went to interact with the cats and dogs. The children had cuddles with Kalem and Callum (two of our dogs) and all the cats.
This visit lasted just over two hours, and they took away a lot of knowledge about animals and how to treat with them with kindness. 🥰
Raising awareness of how animals are part of our society and how they need to be treated is vitally important. If you’d like to help us with this work, WhatsApp or message. You can make a difference.

Santos, his mum and siblings were rescued last year, just in the nick of time. Someone called us for help and @carolosk80 you were the champion that day ❤️ they would not have survived much longer where they were.
Now, they have happy homes and people who love them. ❤️

This is Tom. He’s named after the person that called us; a visitor to the island who saw the dog on a golf course. As you can see, Tom is in poor shape right now. The good news is that he should make a full recovery. A lot of love, good food and a little medication is all it takes. Tom is lucky. There are thousands out there that are not. Please keep supporting our work so we can help them. In spite of all they endure they still love and trust us. They deserve so much more. #oceanacres #donate #savealife #adoptdontshop
We are in awe! This is Lucy, lovingly nicknamed Dobby. 😆 Lucy’s incredible transformation in just one week is thanks to a kind stranger who went above and beyond, rescuing her from the streets, arranging for wonderful veterinary care, food, and then connected her to a wonderful foster hero family who gave her all the love and made her feel right at home. Lucy is on her path to recovery and will soon be ready for her forever home. 🐾❤️ #RescueHeroes #KindnessMatters #RescueMission #OneWeekTransformation #Barbados
