Do you have a rabbit that goes outside? Rabbits that go outside can be exposed to ‘Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease’ which is a fatal infectious disease easily transmitted to rabbits. April 12th, 2024 marked a monumental moment at the clinic that is close to our hearts. Peggy, the heart of GVAC, retired after 32 years! Peggy started at Grand Valley Animal Clinic on opening day in September of 1992 when the clinic did strictly large animal located at the Heartland Livestock Yards. She worked very hard to build relationships with clients and patients the entire 32 years and we wouldn’t be here without her. She is the most beautiful, kind hearted, hard working woman around and will never be replaced. Peggy, thank you for all the years you dedicated to GVAC and know all your coworkers past and present will miss you dearly. Happy Retirement Peggy, you deserve it! Enjoy eating your sandwiches uninterrupted 😉

Licorice came in for a mani/ pedi today!
Heartworm season is here! We are busy testing & getting preventative ready for all our fur family. Today, we got our 4th heartworm positive test. It’s very important to test and get the preventative needed to protect our pets. Heartworm is spread by mosquitoes. If an infected mosquito bites your dog they become infected by microfilaria. These then grow and mature into worms that live in the heart. The video below are the microfilaria under a microscope.

Today was a very important day here at GVAC! This is Zola, a very sweet girl who has been going through chemo treatment the last 10 weeks. Today was her last day of treatment which was a cause for celebration! Every week Zola came in for her treatments tail wagging and happier than ever. We want to give a shout out to the The Little Shopp for donating the bell that was rang for her completing treatment!
