Behind the scenes of Keela's makeover 🎬
The benefits of working slowly with a dog to gain their trust!
Minh Ley needed a full groom, so his owner brought him to me every other week for 4 short visits, slowly working up from nail trims, to hair brushing, then the sound of dryers.
We finally made it to a full groom and he was a rockstar! We have work to do with getting him in the bath tub but for now, let's enjoy watching this satisfying video of drying his cleaned fluffs!
Ears!
Did you know that dogs need to have their ears cleaned regularly, not just when they have an infection? Some breeds like labs and others with floppy ears are more prone to ear infections and may require weekly cleanings as a preventative measure. I always clean ears when I bathe dogs, but for some that's not frequent enough. Ear infections are painful and can cause chronic sensitivity so it's best to keep on top of keeping those flappers clean!
Allergies
If you find your dog has excessive wax and yeast buildup despite regular cleaning, it could be a symptom of another underlying cause. Food allergies is increasingly common in dogs and is often the culprit behind ear infections. Poultry is often the trigger but your dog may be allergic to beef, pork, fish, anything really! If you suspect that your dog may have food allergies, consult with your veterinarian as to how you can best narrow down what your dog may be allergic to.
