Meet one of our clients Mike, the owner of Rocky, a 4 year old Havanese. Mike is a senior who has attended CVO clinics for years as a client and also volunteers with CVO.

"Rocky has made me a better person," he said. "I couldn't live without him … it's the best thing that's happened to me."

Mike says Rocky has got him out of the house more, improved his health, and encouraged him to interact with the community more.

Like all of our patients, when Mike and Rocky visit a clinic, they leave with a bag of pet food.

Dartmouth Veterinary Hospital, and our very own Dr. Paul Robb is proud to support the Community Veterinary Outreach program that is starting in the Halifax area.

They operate Canada-wide, exclusively from donations, to provide care and supplies to the pets of the vulnerably housed community in the local area.

The Community Veterinary Outreach (CVO) is a registered charity that aims to improve the health of homeless individuals and their pets. By offering human health services and health education alongside preventative veterinary care, CVO seeks to improve access to veterinary and human health resources for an at-risk population, and leverage the human-animal bond to increase human health resource uptake.

The Dartmouth Vet Team is participating in the Canada-wide fundraising challenge which involves logging their kilometers and activity to meet the goal of walking across Canada, covering the distance between all of the CVO locations, a total of 8,889km.

We are proud to support the Halifax region of the Community Veterinary Outreach. This organization works to support offering veterinary care and supplies to those in our communities experiencing homelessness across the country. To support getting this amazing program off the ground here in the HRM, we wanted to share a link to our fundraising page for the Cross-Canada Community Challenge. Donations will go directly toward the costs associated with providing veterinary care and veterinary supplies to the pets in our local community. Any donations, big or small, are appreciated.
