COMEDY NIGHT ?

We have received quite a few inquiries about organizing another comedy night! We are reaching out to all of you to see who would be interested in attending!
The evening would consist of some incredible food and drinks at Hammond Golf / Broken Stick Brewing Company, 8 incredible comedians and your very own Kyle The Keeper as your host! A silent auction would also be organized.

All proceeds would help our rescue with the cost of veterinary care, habitats, enrichment, food and supplies.

If you would be interested, please right YES in the comments!

Moana & Maui!

Our red footed tortoises are always ready for their meal while our marginated tortoises prefer sleeping in! We love seeing them enjoying the outdoors all summer. It is not only amazing enrichment but also allows them to socialize with other species!

Our goal is to build more habitats to allow more animals to safely reside outside!

Lola 🐾

Our little ferret "Lola" is enjoying her new hammock purchased from our Amazon wishlist by an incredible follower!

Lola came to us with her friend "Luc" (ferret). Lola is the smallest and sweetest ferret in our care. She is blind in one eye due to an untreated ulcer. Unfortunately, her vision could not be restored despite our best efforts / treatments upon arriving at our facility. Thankfully, she is not affected by this and lives a happy, normal life with our other ferrets!

I DARE YOU

Our beautiful 6ft male iguana "Snaper" is enjoying the warm summer days at the very top of his 12ft tall habitat! He spends his days sunbathing, climbing to his favorite branches and eating away.

YES, we do feed him at the very top of his habitat since this king refuses to climb to the bottom to share his salad with our 4 tortoises who cohabite with him 😅

Although iguanas can be extremely lovable, humans often underestimate their strength! Their bite and tail whip can cause serious injuries! Iguanas have 80-120 teeth and can be quite territorial.

Snapper has been known to be a big teddy bear most of the year BUT, every fall, his behavior completely changes. Breeding season unfortunately means Snapper WILL charge at us everything we walk by and attempt to bite.

Iguanas are NOT legal pets in many areas of Canada. They require a lot of space, food and experienced handlers.

Meet Domino!

This black and white Tegu made her way to our rescue center as a rehoming case. Unfortunately she is underweight. She is 4yrs old and has no fat reserves. Her hip and tail bones are pertruding although hard to see in photos due to her coloring. She is 1/3 of our other tegu's size.. The best way we can explain it is she feels empty.

Her owner mentioned she has only ever been fed frozen thawed rats. Tegus are omnivores and eat fruits as well a wide variety of protein to ensure proper nutrition.

We have set her up in a habitat with proper heat sources and will begin introducing a variety of new foods every few days to hopefully get her back to good health.

**We have attached a photo of our other healthy black and white tegu named oreo to show the difference in weight. A healthy adult tegu will range between 5 and 10lbs**

Please send all the positive thoughts Domino's way, and help us welcome her to the Keepers family!

New Rescue - Who am I?

Meet The Keepers Wildlife Rescue Center took in an animal needing some TLC due to poor diet, housebundry and being significantly underweight.. She is a female. She is a predator in her natural habitat although omnivore.

She can run up to 15-17 miles per hour and extremely territorial by nature. This animal may have venom glands but is NOT dangerous to humans.

Take a WILD guess!

Baby Jackson 💙

A few weeks ago, we were asked to attempt to rescue a limp, dehydrated baby giant flemish rabbit. We worked our magic overnight, and baby "Jackson" decided to show us how much of a little fighter he was.

Needless to say, he ended up finding a home at our wildlife rescue center. We are happy to say he is thriving!

Please help us welcome Jackson to the Keepers family!

🥵 Heat wave 🥵

Please ensure you and your pets as staying hydrated! Additional water bowls, pools and staying out of the sun is essential.

IF your pet overheats, please remember to NEVER soak them in cold water as it can send their system into sock. Rinse them off with lukewarm water and gradually cool off their body temperature. You can also put rubbing alcohol on their paws to help cool them off.

Our animals are enjoying their pools, frozen treats, cold water, shaded area and most are staying indoors during this Heat wave!

Stay safe!

COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: An Agricultural Fair with a Focus on Farming

By myFM News/Oldies 107.7 staff

While the customary entertainment aspects of a Valley Fair like the midway and demolition derby have been left in the dust of its history, the Arnprior Agricultural Society remains focused on its mission of Agricultural Education, as Stacy Howard, General Manager of the Valley Ag Festival explains.

Now that school is out, and the Agricultural Festival is on, those same kiosks will move from the JAG Centre, to the Murray Yantha Community Centre.

It’s an irony that with so much farmland still around us, rural connections have been lost for many townsfolk.

Stacy says it’s important to realize not all food comes from a Green Giant Can.

Entertainment follows Education in alphabetical order.

You may “marvel” at the heroes- or not. There are kids games, and bounce houses.

Stacy says Homecrafts are a key component of the Valley Agricultural Festival, and one of the contestants could be described as a “ringer”

That’s the “All-Ontario” champion from that year!

Free Entry, free parking- on-site food vendors, at the Valley Agricultural Festival 2024- situated on the McNab-Braeside Municipal property, 2473 Russet Drive, adjacent to the Murray Yantha Community Centre.

Good morning from Rose!

Our beautiful corn snake "Rose" says hello! She was up and ready to eat today! Did you know corn snakes can make amazing pets. They are active but easy to handle if socialized regularly.

These North American snakes are incredible hunters and are known to help control mice/rat populations near farms.

Vet visit!

Our marbled foxes (Felix & Fiona) and baby Tucker (Stripped skunk) had a vet appointment with the amazing Dr. Cohen yesterday.

Fiona received her annual exam and rabies vaccine. Although she was not happy to be there, she had a clean bill of health!

Felix received his annual exam, rabies vaccine and ointment for an eye infection that started a few days ago.

Tucker has been in our care for a few months now as a rehab case. He had his tail bitten off by a dog and suffers from swimmers syndrome which we have been working on correcting. During his exam, it was also discovered that he has a curvature of his right front radius (forearm). This vet visit was to determine if he would be releasable like the others. Stay tuned for more information.

A big thank you to the amazing team at Clinique Vétérinaire de Hull Inc. !

Moana and Maui

Some much needed morning Snuggles this morning. These red footed tortoises sure love being outdoors all summer. They can be seen enjoying the sun, soaking in their shallow pool and enjoying their meals together.

Moana has been with us since 2019 as a result of a neglect case in Peterborough. Her shell reflect the lack of care, housebundry and proper diet she went through prior to her arrival. This is a permanent deffect we can not fix BUT we can certainly prevent it from getting worse moving forward.

Maui is a beautiful male and was simply a facility transfer. We were very happy to get Moana so.e company!

We hope to see you all there!

Newest arrival
Saturday VS today

Meet our newest unexpected arrival. As many of you know, we are at capacity right now as it is our busy season. We recently attended an event where baby giant flemish mix rabbits were being given away for free to good home.

Unfortunately, with extreme heat and high humidity, this little one suffered from heat exhaustion. The owner asked if we could try to save the baby. He/ she was "unresponsive" when he was brought to our us.

Thankfully, after some overnight TLC, fluids, receiving critical herbivore paste, and more, he/she was up and eating by the next morning!

The plan was to hand it back to its owner the next morning, but unfortunately, his litter mates who appeared stable the night before did not make it through the night...

We did not want to risk it with another extremely hot day ahead and decided to bring this baby home despite being at capacity.

This baby will be sexed and given a safe home at our wildlife rescue center. He/she may be looking for a forever home soon.

Please help us find a gender neutral name !

Our marbled fox "Fiona" is not a big fan of these heat waves. Thankfully, she truly enjoys her pool, frozen treats, and cooling beds she gets every single day!

Baby Marley update

We are extremely happy to say that Marley has been gaining weight and is now thriving. Being switched to a proper milk replacement upon his arrival made a world of a difference. He is now drinking his bottles around the clock, snacking on greens, and starting to eat hay.

Patagonian maras are naturally really skittish animals. Marley is being socialized constantly and has started calling out for our attention. He gets the "zoomies" every night and ends each day snuggling on our chest being rocked to sleep. He is only three weeks old and has a lot of milestones ahead of him, but we are confident he is on track!

Bee - YMCA!

Our newest addition "Bee" is the life of the party so far! Stay tuned for a list of local fairs he will be attending this year alongside Duke the Dino, Dynomite, Goerge the Gorilla and our other mascotts!
