Meet Pretzel! He came to the OHS after being found lost and alone outdoors and in need of help.

Pretzel was not able to place his paw, as his leg was stuck in a flexed position at the elbow. We’re not too sure what caused this, but he was unable to move the joint as he regularly should.

To make sure Pretzel could live his best, pain-free life, our veterinarians removed the affected leg.

We are happy to report that Pretzel has recovered very well and recently found his forever home!

📰 Newsflash:
It has been another busy weekend of new arrivals here at Furry Tales Cat Rescue.

1) Grenada comes to us from a farm in Smiths Falls. We are trying to locate the rest of her family. An indoor life with proper vetting, spay and a warm cozy bed are now in her future.

2) we were alerted to a large group of cats located in Mont-Laurier who were living in less-than-ideal circumstances. The first four have arrived into our care. There are two Tabbies who are both pregnant 😳, an Orange and White cat and a small Greg and white kitten who is in rather rough shape. Thank you to Guylaine and Liane, for transporting them to Smiths Falls.

3) Pickles landed last night on his flight ✈️from Iqaluit. He was a great traveller 🧳. Welcome to this cutie.

Our mandate is to always help those most urgently in need. We are not governed by municipal pound contracts nor do we receive any government funding. Our mission is to save as many as we can, those who have run out of options, those who are on euthanasia lists, or those who may live in places without access to proper care.

We can’t save every cat but we have saved nearly 9000. Follow us, support us, donate, foster, volunteer, adopt don’t shop!

Our two male piggies are officially available for adoption!!

A few words from their foster:

Skittles has black and tan fur and Cookie has tan and white fur.
both Guinea pigs are very social and curious. They enjoy being held and spending time in their pigaloos. Skittles is often seen roaming while cookie can be a bit more shy. They both love fresh veggies and hay. They make a great family pet and enjoy interacting with kids of all ages.

☀️ Happy Monday!
We’re starting your day ☕️ (and week) with an update on our darling Ovide, who is still looking for a loving forever family.

You may remember that 3 year old Ovide came to us after being surrendered to a shelter through no fault of his own. Because Ovide was surrendered, he is on the shyer side and seems to be taking his time adjusting and trusting humans again. This is completely understandable after what he’s been through. 😢

That being said, Ovide is still a love bug! 😻
He seeks out pets on his own time, which is just fine with us. When you hear him meow and ask for your attention, you feel as though you’ve won the lottery! 🤩 You’ve earned Ovide’s trust, which is huge. He will rub against everything in his path on his way to you, and purr away while you pet him.

As you can see from his photos, Ovide is a very handsome guy — just look at his big white mittens! He really enjoys being brushed and loves to have his tummy pet when he’s relaxed. He also loves playtime and plays with balls whenever he gets the chance, that is when he’s not perched high up on his cat tree, watching the world go by. 👀

As we mentioned earlier, Ovide’s surrender hit him hard and he is going to need heaps of love and kindness in his forever home. ❤️
He will be a wonderful addition to any family, as he loves being by his foster’s side and sleeping in their lap.

Meet Fergus, the 17 year old chinchilla. He is EXTREMELY old and definitely shows it. He’s has had 5 owners in his life time. He will be staying in the rescue as a palliative care resident ♥️

Meet Ozzy! He’s a sweet but shy two-year-old Chihuahua mix who came to the OHS in need of help.

He had a luxating patella, a chronic knee condition where the kneecap pops out from its usual location. Ozzy would limp when this happened, indicating it was painful. For his case, surgery was recommended.

A veterinary orthopedic surgeon performed the surgery on his knee to stabilize his patella in its correct position so he can live a pain-free life.

He still has a long road to recovery ahead, but we are happy to report that Ozzy’s knee is stabilized and no longer causing him pain.

We have some amazing reunions today that show the resilience our furry friends have. All of these beauties survived some very bitter cold temperatures, some longer than others but they are all tough little troopers🥰

A tabby cat was posted as a sighting in the Carleton Place area where a gentleman had been feeding him and another cat. It was discovered the cat had a microchip and he was working on contacting the owner. Skip is home after 5 months😻
From a family member "He is home, he’s been gone for 5 months and lives across the street from Cavanaugh where he was being seen"🤣

Paul a very pretty cat missing from Gatineau was secured and is safe inside after almost 2 weeks😽

A sweet dog missing from Kazabazua was finally found after 9 days on the run🐾💕

And last but not least is Gaelle a 5 month old chinese crested mix that escaped from her harness in Hull. She had just been brought to her new home the day before. There had been several sightings of her over the past few weeks around the Hull casino. A team had been involved and was trying to secure her. Last night they finally figured out where she had been hunkering down and she was secured. Amazing how this little puppy survived for a month on her own in the bitter temperatures🐾💖

Today we would also like to acknowledge all of our followers. During this very cold snap we have noticed so many kind offers on posts........those taking in pets when it isn't an ideal situation for them, offers of scanning for microchips, straw and winter shelters being offered for cats, those offering to foster if a finder is unable to keep a pet in their house for any length of time. You are all truly amazing and a big part of what makes this page so successful☺

We’re so excited to introduce you to Hershey, an absolutely adorable orange girl who has come into our care. Grab a bite of your favourite chocolate (bonus if it’s orange-flavoured 🍊🧡) and get to know Hershey with us!

1.5-year-old Hershey came into our care from Cornwall with Cadbury and kittens Baby Ruth, Big Turk, Butterfinger, Coffee Crisp, Heath, Lindt, Mars, Oh Henry, Skor, Toblerone and Twix. Is your mouth watering yet? 🤤

This girl has been a doting mother to her kittens (and Cadbury’s kittens, too!), but now it’s time for Hershey to find her own loving forever family. It’s no coincidence that she’s named after a chocolate brand — Hershey is incredibly sweet and affectionate! 🥰
She’s always seeking out interaction and is super confident, which we love. She knows what she wants (playtime, catnip, and Temptation treats are at the top of the list) and she’s not afraid to ask for what makes her happy! When she came into our care, her fur was a bit thin, but it’s now growing in beautifully. We know she’s feeling the love and safety around her.

My 2 dogs are missing wolfie and fluffy bum, they are both males, we live out in the country in Newington, they were last seen yesterday on Dixon road and off the side streets, they normally run threw the felids. Wolfie doesn't like new people but doesn't mean he isn't friendly he just part German Shepherd and they love to bark at new people, fluffy bum is an angel, I've reached out to opp and Kevin the dog catcher, they are also oh where they are out and about, if you see them just leave them be and call me!!! I will drop what I'm doing an get there as fast as I can!! This is my number, 3435804200

Handsome Donatelli is the very definition of a Renaissance man (oops, we mean cat!). 😆🐈‍⬛
At just 3 months old, he has so many interests, and tons of personality. Let’s get to know him!

Donatelli came into our care from Wolfe Island along with moms, Napoli and Soprano, and siblings Cantalupo, Deluca, Fiato, Francesco, Morano, Ricci and Salvatore.

At first glance, Donatelli is obviously a very handsome guy. 😍 He has an air of calm wisdom about him which makes him absolutely wonderful company (not to mention an amazing pet). Donatelli’s interests include keeping himself busy playing and then coming in for a cozy cuddle session, eating, and exploring. As you can see from these photos, he has a glorious coat which will need regular maintenance and grooming to stay as soft and beautiful as possible.

We have a strong hunch that Donatelli will become even more of a snuggler as time goes by, and once he’s comfortable in his forever home, we expect him to be a cuddle king! 😻
�Furry Tales requires all small kittens to be adopted with a playful companion or for there to be a friendly feline already in the adoptive home. Kittens are social beings and companionship is an important part of their development.
