Keep your senior dog's brain active 🧠
A senior dog’s senses may not be quite as sharp as they once were, but mental exercise is just as crucial as physical exercise for your dog’s well-being. ✔️
While it’s entirely normal for a dog’s passion for toys to wane with age, rotating toys weekly can help pique their interest. There are also toys explicitly geared toward senior dogs that could be just what your dog is looking for. 🧶🦴
An easy way to add some change and excitement is Nose Work. Treats hidden behind panels or under sliding blocks motivate dogs to use both their noses and paws. 🍪
Keep your senior dog’s mind healthy by teaching them a new trick, like how to balance a treat on their paw or muzzle. 🐶

Signs of ageing in cats 🐱
Although each cat's aging will differ, there are certain general signs that are similar in all cats. 🐈
Their senses of smell, taste, and hearing become less keen, affecting their appetite. Dental concerns, such as tooth wear, gum disease, or tooth loss, can also have an impact. 🦷
Their joints are less mobile, especially if they have osteoarthritis, which can cause a lot of pain and make it hard for them to move around. 😿
Senior cats may have changed behaviours, including lack of sociability or making sounds at inappropriate times. They may sleep more, but not as deeply. This can disrupt their schedule and cause behavioral issues. 😾
Remember, the key when caring for a senior kitty is patience, love, and health care. 💗👩⚕️

Cat hairballs 🐱
Cats like to stay clean, frequently grooming themselves during the day, and they naturally swallow some of their own hair while doing so. 😺
Most hairballs are harmlessly coughed up or passed, but cats with long hair, as well as those who shed or groom themselves a lot, are more prone to getting hairballs. ⚠️
Though you cannot fully eliminate hairballs, you can help reduce their recurrence by brushing your cat frequently, removing loose hair and mats.
You can also give your cat daily food specially formulated for hairball control. Feel free to contact our team, we can help your pet get on a safe and balanced diet. 📋🗓

Wet or Dry Food? 🐱
When people are considering what to feed cats, they often ponder whether wet cat food or dry cat food will be best. 🤔
The best cat food should not only provide the best nutrition, but it should also be easy for you to manage and be something your cat wants to eat. ✅

Toxic Foods for Pets 💀
Although it is tempting to treat your dog with food from your plate, you should take some time to learn which common human foods are toxic to dogs! 👎
Some common ingredients you should always avoid giving your dog are:
➡️ Nuts
➡️ Onions and garlic
➡️ Grapes and raisins
➡️ Chocolate
➡️ Leeks
➡️ Fat trimmings and bones
➡️ Xylitol (artificial sweetener)
Remember, this is just a small list of the most dangerous foods for dogs. Just to be safe, you should always ask your vet before feeding your pooch food that's not made for dogs. 👩⚕️

🤔 How can fleas harm your pet? Fleas are more than just a nuisance. If left untreated, your pet can suffer from hair loss, raw skin (from excess scratching, licking, and biting), blood loss, lethargy, and other health issues.
Getting rid of fleas also requires multiple treatments that can take many months to complete. This may also include professionally cleaning your home and car. 🚘⚠️
That's why the best thing to do is to prevent a flea infestation in the first place.
Contact our vet team to find the best preventative treatment for your pet. ✔️

Dog Itch! 🐶
While scratching an itch on occasion is normal for dogs, constant scratching might suggest a medical problem that will worsen with time. ⚠️
It is usually caused by a medical ailment known as allergic dog itch. A sign that your dog's skin responds to some allergen. For example:
🟡 Fleas or ticks.
🟡 Environmental triggers (pollens, mould spores, or dust mites).
Any of these might cause your dog discomfort. If you see your pet scratching constantly at any time of year, consult our vet team or a veterinary dermatologist. 👩⚕️
