The Waverley Heights dog that has been running loose for over 2 weeks is SAFE!! ❤️❤️
We were contacted about a skittish stray dog that was being seen by neighbours. Too skittish to lure, a feeding station was set up. A couple of attempts were made to secure the dog in a fenced in yard. It worked, but unfortunately the dog panicked and bolted through the gate they had shut. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. 😞
We headed out last week but after all the fireworks last weekend, and his bad experience with the gate, the dog seemed to disappear for a 4-5 days.
This past Friday a sighting came in, and then on Sunday night the dog was (finally) seen on our cameras again. Monday he came back to the feeding station late afternoon and a couple of times overnight as well. The trap was re-introduced today.
The dog showed up mid evening and was captured at last!
A huge thank you to the caring community members for being so committed to getting this sweet boy to safety. Sharon and Alistair gave SO much to help this sweet, scared boy. They fed him and made multiple attempts to secure him. Paula and and Matthew for allowing cameras and food at their place and for doing flyers which helped bring sightings in, and everyone else involved, including all those who called in sightings.
Thank you to Winnipeg Animal Services for all of their amazing collaborative efforts to help stray dogs and people in our city. You can support them by licensing your pet and fostering/adopting. We have said it before, and we’ll say it again, we are so lucky to have such an incredible Animal Services agency in our city!
This darling boy will be checked for ID. If no owner is located after the mandatory hold period, he will be vetted and placed up for adoption.
