⭐️ There's always something amazing going on at Godminster Farms ⭐️
We are so thankful for all of the hard work, passion and dedication that Pete and the team put into it all. It makes our milk all the more special.
After growing up on a dairy farm in the 90s, it blows my mind how far farming and technology has come along.
For those wanting to know a little more about the future of farming, take a look at this video.

Team Higgins working super hard as usual to ensure the highest quality of care for their girls. This plays a huge part of having such a high quality milk come to us for processing, bottling and distribution. 💪❤

Collecting our liquid gold. You don't often find cream as rich and beautiful in colour as ours.
Can you spot our new, bigger cream separator? 👀 Over the past couple of days, Tim has lugged it into place ready for our engineer to install it. Our new one will dramatically cut down the amount of time we spend on skimming off the milk.

A little update on what's been going on here at Bruton Dairy.
We are in the process of having our new pasteuriser installed to replace our rather worn out old 50 year old machine which over the past 10 years has processed nearly 17 million litres of milk. It's been a beast of a machine and done us well over the years! 💪
We are still a week away from being able to use it and process milk at our dairy as we are waiting for other pieces of machinery to be commissioned, so in the meantime will be processing ORGANIC milk only at another premises to help keep us ticking over. If you are a customer, please check your emails... I've just sent a formal update.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support and patients. It really has been overwhelming during this testing time for us.

Today we got to meet the lovely Rich, Steph and their little Artie (who is quite possibly the cutest two year old ever!) from Scoop Wholefoods UK Ltd
Rich and Steph work incredibly hard to ensure they source their products from sustainable suppliers... so we just had to give them a VIP tour around Godminster farm and our little production dairy to see exactly how their milk gets from farm to bottle.
It was lovely to meet you guys, hopefully see you again in the summer 😁

For anyone who knows Tim, getting this photo was a challenge, and getting him to have shave was an even bigger challenge! He'd much rather be in his white coat and boots in the Dairy, fixing things or off out collecting milk from the Farms.
Working with Family certainly isn't easy, but sharing the same passions as the people who know you best is priceless 🥰

Today we celebrate all women....
I want to give the biggest shout our to our Mum, Jane. You were well and truly chucked into the deep when Dad passed away. Never did we think you'd be having to fill Dad's boots here at the dairy. You work so incredibly hard and have had to take on and adjust to so much in such a short space of time, on top of grieving the love of your life! We are so grateful of all that you do.
You are the definition of strong even though I know you don't feel it!
Also another huge shout out to Claudia who's in our office. You are the best listener, let me rant and make me laugh every day! Office life without you certainly would be dull!

The last few deliveries before Christmas are on route. 🙌🙌 What a busy couple of weeks it’s been! Thank you to all of our wonderful customers for your support. Merry Christmas! Sending love and best wishes from the Bruton Dairy team 🎄
We are a small family run business who used to be dairy farmers ourselves, so we are extremely passionate about the Somerset dairy farming industry. As a result of this, we aim to produce the highest quality, locally farmed milk available on the market.
We process both organic and non-organic milk. All of our milk is pasteurised but we do not homogenise like the majority of other dairies.
Homogenising basically breaks down the milk fat, to which we believe affects the taste. You will notice that our milk stays creamy at the top, this is only found in milk that is unhomogenised. Just a simple shake will mix the cream and milk together. Just like the old days.
We guarantee to both of the farms, a premium price for their milk which in turn help to ensure the future success of the local Somerset dairy industry. We source all of our milk from two local farms who we know and personally trust. These farms both work to the highest standards including, most importantly, that of animal welfare.
Both herds of cows graze on the farms pasture during the warmer months and are then brought back inside during the colder months when the weather is not suitable, which we beleive is one of the key factors to keeping happy and healty cows.
Our range
We love to support our fellow local conpanies, so we also stock other products; Organic cheese from Godminster. Delicious yoghurts from Brown Cow Organics. Organic Butter from Brue Valley Farm. Jams and preservs from Hembridge Organics. Butter and cheese from Wyke Farms.
Our milk suppliers
All of our Organic milk is solely sourced from the Godminster dairy herd, Godminster Manor Farm, Bruton. This is the neighboring farm to our dairy unit. We are very proud to be the only chosen dairy to work alongside their team on the processing of their milk.
Godminster are world famous for their range of cheeses under the Godminster vintage label. Their quality organic milk is only available through us.
We work very closely with the Godminster team. Farm manager Pete and owner, Richard have crossed their 230 head herd of British Friesians with Norwegian Red, Normande and Fleckvieh, to produce animals that are well-suited to the largely pasture based organic system of dairy farming.
Both Pete and Richard are very passionate about Somerset Organic farming, with animal welfare being the most important factor of farm life. For more information regarding the Godminster brand please refer to their website: www.godminster.com
All of our non-organic local milk is sourced from R & S Higgins and Sons who farm 450 acres of land that forms part of the Duke of Somerset's estate. The Higgins family have farmed at Church Farm for over 67 years and are the 4th generation farmers.
Their farm assured dairy herd consists of 200 Friesians and Friesian Cross. Church farm produces in 1.5 million litres of the highest quality milk annually from the Green pastures of the Somerset Estate and their farm produced forage.
