Private dog walking field and mixed traditional smallholding Why Ginger & Blacks? Our Smallholding Adventure. We're James and Diana along with assorted animals.

Well, our first chickens which we kept in the back garden were coloured ginger or black and together this seemed a good name for our venture. For many years we have grown our own vegetables and kept chickens for eggs on allotments and in our garden but inspired by the likes of Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall (in the early River Cottage days) and a feeling that we needed to do something different with

our lives we started our search for some suitable land. Now, several years later, we have finally bought several acres in the North Buckinghamshire countryside and the hard work can begin! We produce good quality, wholesome food for sale using traditional methods and to raise animals to the highest welfare standards with rare breeds as our first choices. We still have eggs for sale daily. Due to theft, and now keeping them cool, please ring the bell at the gate and we will bring them to you.
If the sign is out we have eggs.

Seems a little inappropriate straight after the cute piglet pics, but I am pleased to say that we have fresh pork available hopefully a week today, the actual date to be confirmed with the butcher.

We will have the usual pork sausages, pork and leek, gluten free and will also be offering herby/cumberland sausages this time. Pork joints, belly and chops will also be available along with gammon and a limited supply of bacon (please note that gammon and bacon will take a couple of weeks longer as it needs to be cured) so order now to avoid disappointment.

The prices are still the same as last year! £3.50 sausages per pack, Pork £7kg, Belly £5kg, Bacon £3 per pack and gammon £10kg.

We hope to have more beef ready in a couple of months and I will send an e-mail out again nearer the time.

Can't believe it. Today is 5 year anniversary of being at Buzzard Holt. It doesn't seem possible it's been that long, yet in other ways it feels like we've been there forever.

Our Story

Secure Dog Walking Field Rent our dog walking field to spend some quality time with your dog. Ideal for a peaceful walk or training time. Perfect for anxious or reactive dogs; dogs that cannot be let off the lead elsewhere; or for teaching recall.

Hire costs £10 an hour for up to 2 dogs. Additional dogs charged at £2 each.

Hire time includes a 10 minute buffer at the end to allow you to get your dog in & out, i.e. actual walk time is 50 minutes.

Please contact us to enquire about longer or multiple bookings. The paddock is securely fenced with 4ft stock fencing. There is an 'airlock' system to allow you to get your dog(s) safely out of and back into the car.

We provide biodegradable poo bags and a bin (emptied by licenced waste contractors). There is also a tap & dog bowl.

There is no lighting in the dog field. You are welcome to use it after dark, but we suggest you bring a torch!

We're James and Diana along with assorted animals. For many years we had grown our own vegetables and kept chickens for eggs on allotments and in our garden but inspired by the likes of Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall (in the early River Cottage days) and a feeling that we needed to do something different with our lives we started our search for some suitable land. Now, several years later, we are settled in the North Buckinghamshire countryside on our smallholding.

We run a mixed smallholding. Beef and pork from our own outdoor reared, traditional breeds is sometimes available - we distribute fresh direct from the butcher. We’ll post updates as and when we have produce. Eggs from our free-ranging flock of hens are always available at the gate, and for local delivery. Seasonal vegetables and fruit are also available.
