A sensational start to September adoptions!
Four cats out the door today to new homes - including Charlie the Siamese who has settled splendidly, little kittens Darla and Calippo and a permanent place from foster to adoption for Viola. To add to this reserves were placed on ELEVEN more cats and kittens!!

You may remember we mentioned taking in quite a few young cats from one home…with so many we decided to build our own orchestra, naming them after musical instruments!
It’s taken some time but they are are all steadily finding homes with little Oboe adopted this weekend and Gong heading off later in the week.
Leaving behind just a trio now …. And we wanted to show you the delightful Trumpet! As you can see she is beautiful! She is desperately trying to be brave but cattery life is holding her back!
She, we feel, would do really well living with another cat as she adores our resident cat, Betsy. We find them chirruping and rubbing against the cattery pen against each other.

Sometimes, despite being abandoned, left alone with a litter of kittens in Home Bargains (Dover) and then getting struck down with cat flu ….little darling cats like Bev show extraordinary resilience, tolerance and recovery.
Bev, now named Bolina broke down all her challenges and has shown herself to be a truly delightful, playfully perfect family friendly cat who is happiest living with her new playmates - young children, a tortoise and a dog who couldn’t care less!
Not all cats who experience trauma can cope with the hustle of family life but when they do we love love love love to find that purrfect match.
For anyone who might be struggling in the Canterbury District, there is direct financial support available from the city councils household support fund.
Eligible households can apply for a £250 grant for either food costs, energy bills or other essential items.
Applications open until Friday 20th September or until the funding is spent so do look into this.

We said goodbye to Bev, Bumblebee and Venus on the 31st of July and kicking off August with already 7 adopted and 10 reserved including Willow and Bob.
Over the last few days we have said goodbye to Earth, Uranus, Paprika, Triangle, Webbigail Vandaquack, Waddlesworth the First as well as Baklava! We wish them all well in their new homes!
Pictured below is Bumblebee when he first came into RSPCA care, likely dealt with all sorts, maybe even a potential road traffic accident. He’s now settling in his forever home being king of the palace and loving life! We love to see how our cats are settling and Bumblebee definitely had fans at the centre.

After two long (and warm!) weeks of getting stuck in, we say farewell to vet med student Morgan! She has been epic to work with, got stuck in and been a welcome pair of extra hands in the busy summer season!
Morgan’s feedback on working with us was pretty nice too:
‘As a vet med student hoping to develop my knowledge of cat husbandry and gain some hands-on experience, the RSPCA offered me the fantastic opportunity to undertake a two-week placement with them.
I was able to get involved with the daily tasks in the cattery, assist with the vet visits and spend lots of time socialising with the cats (definitely a perk of the job!). It was a privilege to have gained such an insight into their incredible work, and I am delighted to have now joined the team of volunteers. A huge thank you to all of the staff!’
We do run a year round work experience and volunteer placement scheme so if you are aged over 14 and completing your DoE or over 16 if not and looking to do a week or more placement then do get in touch at [email protected] to apply.

Kittens Webbegail Vanda Quack and Waddlesworth the First are sad today. 😔
No one chose to adopt them at the adoption weekend and they are still patiently waiting.
They could be rehomed together or separately and are absolutely full of fun, totally bomb proof enthusiastic joyful kittens! They love meal times and playing and snoozing. They would enjoy living with children of any age and could live with a cat friendly dog. They will need garden access too.
They have had a bout of cat flu so no other cats in the house is advisable.
They are already neutered and vaccinated and are ready to go…NOW!

New boy on the block Flerkin is recovering nicely from his amputation and is feelin’ fresh for cuddles and lap fuss! Flerkin is ready for adoption and would love to find a new family soon so he can carry on healing, strengthening and resting up! Squidward is a lively active boy and he’s easily bored in the cattery confines. This Sunday one of our pawsome team has been busy creating catnip toys hiding treats and creating games to help bust the boredom whilst he and others waits for a new home!
As we creep into Christmas Evening we wanted to say a huge thank you for all the generosity you’ve shown our little branch this season. It means the world to us when you pop in with pet food, bedding and blankets and donations for the shops and cats. We are truly grateful for every donation given. We know times are tighter but this year our community have shone even brighter. Here’s Joe, a resident who will remain at the animal centre over Christmas. 🥹 Joe was transferred from RSPCA Finsbury Park Animal Hospital a few days ago to our care. He was stressed and angry and scared from his journey. Turns out actually….he’s rather a sweetheart ….and this old boy is now hoping for a home of his own after years on the streets. Last month was a record rehoming month for us! 5️⃣1️⃣ cats and kittens went off to pawsome new homes and this weekend is shaping up to be busy one too! It’s humbling to see just how many people are willing to rescue a cat and give them a second chance. Betty Boo here is hoping for her second chance home. She was found outside in the awful storms a few weeks ago- emaciated and half starved. As you can see …a few good meals and a dental and she’s feline’ great now and awaiting her pawfect new pad to sass about in. Could it be with you?

Meet Fella. He’s been with us a little while now because he needed his eye removed. Our friends RSPCA - Kent North West paid for this for him and he’s healed up lovely. He was pretty grumps having to wear the cone of shame whilst his eye healed but now it’s off he’s decided to show his softy side. We now want to find Big Fella a big sofa! He needs a respectful home without young kids who are willing to let him settle. We suspect he’s never really known a real home before and we would love someone to give him a chance. Could you be be Fella’s purrfect match?

It’s our penultimate day of sharing a snapshot of some of the work our pawsome volunteers get involved with! Today is the turn of su-paw foster family Sarah, Billy (and co off camera)! They have been so amazing at taking cats and kittens into foster and helping them begin their journey forwards onto their permanent homes. Hear Sarah and Billy talk a little bit about what they do and why they love doing it! Super worried Biggles decided that today he wanted to play! We are thrilled to see him as he hasn’t coped very well with life in the cattery the last few weeks. He’s 15 and has found it quite a shock and is missing a comfy sofa snuggle. 😔😔 But today the shiny toy and one very patient volunteer were irresistible and he couldn’t wait to attack!! Biggles is looking for a home with Ella- his pod pal 💕💕
