Get yourself a horse you can enjoy life with 😍😜💜
One weekend a racehorse … two weeks later another run due, but abandoned… so go to show jumping and Cross country instead! Straight in at 90cm 🌟
8 faults SJ (1 pole, 1 circle as lost my way 😅)
Cross country 2.46 optimum time … me and Perry with some brakes on … 2.04 🤣🤣 finished 2 overall in seniors xx my lite champ xx

An 8weeks progress with Perry ! Aka Our Year 💜
As many people know we were having an ongoing battle with lameness mainly due to the injury he sustained to his hoof/heel/coronet band on Boxing Day ‘23 whilst out hacking.
It had healed well, and I was riding him for about a month before he went lame again for nearly 12 weeks.
Thankyou to our Vet Sabine and farrier Derek Gardner, for all help and advice working on his poorly foot!!
So fast forward finally our first ride back on May 21st (happy happy)
It was all good from there! Plenty of road work, walking and trotting.
Really pleased with his progress. He loves a good canter so we would canter now and then to keep sweet.
We had a little feeling about racing and only really when towards the end of June was coming did we do any faster work.

ANYHOW! Long story short!! Me and Perry finally got onto a racetrack together!!! We went flapping on July 14th and we came 3rd!!! So so so proud of him ###x

I owe this horse everything, he has kept me going so much and through some very dark times. Animals will always heal and I’m so grateful he came into my life. I will always be grateful to Sheila and Nigel 💜

Whoops I havnt posted on this page recently ! I apologise ! It’s been a busy month, whether working , flapping, riding or driving it’s been a full on month or so!
The boys have been super and really lapping up the grass and field changes. Ginger being home has made him work up the hills and in the field and a lot of work to help get rid of the abscess in his foot that was making him so uncomfortable.
Perry has been gradually increasing his fitness.. (another post for that) Ozzy and Hobo just loving life ! Xx I love my gang together 💜🏇🏼🥰

Oh look mum I do know how to stretch whilst trotting by myself!! Horrayy!!
Just a mini workout today, so a bit of loose ‘lunging’ in the pen. Definitely one of Perrys learning places, when he has to really slow down and relax, finally he is learning to stretch whilst trotting !

Absolutely blessed to be able to still have a small part of Sunnie’s education in life 💜
Today saw me helping his wonderful owners take Sunnie to the beach for the first time!
It was also my first UK beach ride!! Firsts all round!
At the start Sunnie was quite worried about coming down the sand dunes, as they can be pretty steep, we tried a couple and then found a lower sloped one, which we managed to lead him down onto the beach, which he was unsure at first, with new texture and feeling under his feet from the soft sand, rocks and then was unsure of the water, so it was quite wobbly getting onto the better sand.
We did it so I got him going forward and did some trotting and some cantering, a pic of me riding was where his head started, as he was anxious of new surroundings etc to then his loverly owner Jacey-May getting on and just look how well he goes!
I am so so proud of this little duo, they have been putting in so much work to make Sunnie the best version of horse to have fun on, I can’t say enough what a pleasure he was to ride and what an absolute credit to the hard work that is being put in. He is gunna be a special little horse with Jacey! 😍💜

Meet the boys 💜
Perry - Our Year 💜 8yrs, b, g , 17.1hh
- a super all round guy, loves to jump, gallop and be my best friend. We havnt yet got onto the racecourse -caught by covid and then a fractured pelvis, but there is still time.. watch this space! 🏇🏼🌟 we love having the vets as our best friends 🤣 we love hacking, hunt races, hedge days, beach rides and swimming. Most of all enjoying life and spending money to get fixed all the time 🤣

Ozzy- Order of Service 💜 15yrs, ch, g, around 16.1hh
- a loverly boy, who is happily retired, he doesn’t really enjoy being a riding horse, and owes me nothing. Gave me my first ride in jersey as a Trainer/Owner & jockey all at once. It was a proud moment, as he had really fell out of love with the sport, he knew when he had enough. 🥰

Ginger- Ginger Lacey 💜 9yrs b, g around 15.3hh
- a cool little dude who was gifted my his owners to me to retrain, we had done a lot of low level showjumping together, unfortunately he had an accident with some fencing, so damaged his back legs, but they are slowly healing nicely. So we may just get back out again 🙏🏻 he is a kind soul and loves to please anyone who rides him 🥰 need an updated photo of him very soon! Xx

Hobo- Littlest Hobo 💜 the super duper companion pony to everyone, the worst behaved of them all, the one who I have fallen off the most, speedy little thing when fit! Currently using his fatty pony muzzle as the grass is coming through!!

Got the crew back together again for a while! Needed some grass eaten off so Ginger has come to help out 🥰😍💜 the boys were happy to see him, even hobo with his little fat boy muzzle, thanks Heather for having him for a while , he said he can’t wait till the grass comes back at yours! Xx

Well this day couldn’t have come any sooner !
So so happy right now 💜
4th of March was our last ride as Perry pulled out lame.
11 weeks of not being able to ride him has been the worst! No freedom, no exploring and no mindfulness. But Perry has had the best break and probably when the worst of the weather was about too! I think it has actually done him the world of good despite him holding his fitness really well, he has gained a bit of condition which is good!! 😍
We’ve had the most loverly stroll out and bits of trotting for an hour of chilled round the roads 😍
Thankyou for everyone who has helped get him sound again, especially time! 🙏🏻🥰
Thankyou Perry boy, hopfully we can have a little bit of fun over the summer now- and try and strengthen my knee up a little .. though a ruptured ACL and torn meniscus is a little on the sore side !!
So any fellow riders who have done similar .. please give suggestions!! I’m Down on the waiting list for an op too 😅💜

10 weeks off with intermittent lameness!! The past two/three Perry has been sound, so things are looking up! Shoes back on again next week!
Tbh it has done him the world of good to have a nice rest! He holds his fitness really well, so I’m hoping a few weeks of road work, building muscle tone and some lunging we can have a bit of fun over the summer months 🙏🏻💜😍

Ozzy starting to get his summer coat through now, despite a tough winter, I’m quite pleased with how he is looking at the moment, minimal grass, wet, wet and more wet fields and mud. Not bad for 15 💜Roll on some spring 🙏🏻

This week has seen my handsome Perry officially turn 8 on Sunday! What a boy! We may not of achieved much on the racecourse yet, but we may still get there!! 🏇🏼💜

Hairy Ginger back in work 💜
Time to really work on him stretching his back and legs, he was very happy to get out hacking ! 🥰💜 good boy.
A lot of work to do to get strong, schooling and pole work to be included!
His legs have healed leaving scars, but has now started growing little hairs back!! I’m pleased, but time will tell whether he will get back proper jumping again xx

Trying to put into words the feeling of sadness I feel for my friend Harley right now.
Devastating news this week of her loosing her bestest friend Chilli Dip, our sidekick and best friend of Perry too.
The look of those two at each other I think most people want 😍🥰
A wonderfully tricky pain in the butt, perfectly made into a super special horse by Harley. A bond between them, that was utterly hilarious on many days 🤣 Found his absolute ability over hedges and hunting , doing that is where he really thrived. I mean who really wants to dance in an arena when you can gallop across country!? 🐎 🤣
I’m really going to miss our hedge day outings and watching you swim out of ponds jumped into the wrong way 🤣
Sending Harley, June and everyone else hugs and love, it’s going to be a big chilli hole left for all ### 💔

So o haven’t posted properly in a while! It’s been a quiet month!!
Along with having a lot of things go wrong outside of the horsey life, the boys have helped keep me going!
Sunnie has the most wonderful home, and he is spoilt and happy 🥰
Perry is healing from an injury we picked up on Boxing Day out on a ride on a bridleway up the fell. Caught his foot in one of the numerous metal gulleys that have stupidly been installed up there 😫 but under a watchful eye and instruction from our wonderful vet Sabine, healing is going well, laser therapy is helping and plenty of clean bandaging as he likes to dig them off!! I’ve just been leading him out for road walking to keep him moving and still working a bit whilst he has no shoes on, also as the fields are wet and muddy at the moment 😫 can’t be helped this time of year!
Ozzy is looking old 😅 his legs have blown up again being in more than out, but use of a pen has helped more.
Ginger I’m unsure what to make of him at the moment, I can work him and he seems happy, but I’m unsure how much his legs have healed. He seems more tense when his head is in the air, but when stretching low he seems better. I think it’s just a case of building his muscles back up again, with plenty of stretching long and low,, and see where we go from there. I just need to keep my energy up as I’m struggling myself at the moment, but it will work out in the end!
Hobo.. he is just hobo, and being great company to Perry at the moment whilst he is in!
Hopfully next week I can kick back on with Perry, luckily he keeps his fitness quite well, so we will be aiming for the Berwickshire Hunt race on the 17th February, instead of the golden button as I don’t feel like I’ll be able to get him out for a good blow/run before that, and it will be a messy race on what I think will be very soft ground as it’s currently flooded!!
So time will tell 😅 kick on time soon! Xx

So! Sunday saw myself and Perry have a go at the Melton Hunt Ride.
After having my clippers blow up, and borrows some a day later!! Perry looked rather well 💜
We had a good drive down around 4 hours, so I was pleased to arrive with plenty of time.
The ground was wet, boggy and the course was flowing but testing.
There were a total of 31 starters and only 16 finishers!
We jumped off well thinking we could get a great lead from some great riders and horses, which was perfect, we jumped the first 4 jumps perfectly and then got to the 5th and felt like Perry got stuck in the mud and didn’t pick up 😅 I was unseated, I tried to hang on (so I could continue) but his momentum was too great so I couldn’t stop him 😢
Nonetheless he popped a few more obstacles, looking rather smart on his own!!! 🤣🤣
He soon thought about stopping and I could then catch him !!
We tried, and we will try again! We’ve come home safe, which means the world.
Thoughts are still with Will for Jack 🐎

Beautiful ride today .. 9miles of bliss fitness training .. found a hidden bridle way.. a tree down so snapped branches and carried on 🤣 good lad Perry for standing waiting !
Finished with views for miles on the fell before heading back to the yard 💜

Took Ginger out for a little hack today !! First proper ride and hack in over a year !! What a little super star!! His legs are healing nicely.. so just plenty of road conditioning and work on getting his back legs working well again and strong! Scaring will still be there, but I will get him checked over before any full workouts begin!! Come on boy 🙏🏻💜

Another weekend … another hedge hopping day this time supporting The Buccleugh Hunt !! Perry was Awesome !! A combo of walls, fences and hedges , some soft spots but great ground!
Came back with 4 shoes which is a bonus! … time for new ones and studs too I think!!
Fabulous to be out with Harley and Paddy across some epic country again! Can’t wait for the next !!

Happy boys out for a stroll! Perry back in full work, and has actually held his fitness really well! I’ll post an update of his foot… pleased with his healing Thankyou to Sabine our super vet for all advise and help to keep him right and sound!! 🙌🏼 Ginger I’m bringing into work slowly, starting to use bio oil on his his to help soften the scarring as I think he feels tight in his legs so he doesn’t really want to walk or trot properly, he would rather jog or probally canter. So plenty to work on with him. Perry (Our Year) just always wants to please. No matter what I do with him, he trusts me like no other 🥰 whether jumping, cross country, hills, galloping or leading others from him. When Polly and Harley like jumping together 🥰 I will miss this girl! Polly is Potentially off to her new home very soon as a polo pony! She has been a pleasure to have around, even if being a racehorse didn’t work out.. I’ve love her personality and her willingness to learn and please 💜 she is gunna be a little star in the future xx
