Say hello ๐Ÿ‘‹ to Forest.

Unfortunately for Forest he didn't look this happy 5 minutes later. Forest decided to help himself to a binbag full of goodies today! Whilst he was in his element, it sadly contained toxic items, grapes and chocolate. Thankfully he was a lucky boy and after being made sick he could come home as he had ingested a lot of stuff but not toxic items.

You may recognise Forest from previous posts as he belongs to one of our nurses. Yes, we are sadly not immune to our pets antics!

Please remember to get your pets' medication requests in to us in plenty of time before the Bank Holiday weekend!

Our Receptionist, Hannah is running the London Marathon next year! Raising money for a charity called MACS. It would be amazing if anyone could help with donations. Hannah will be training 3-4 times a week with her longest run in training between 22-23 miles!

MACS is a small national charity supporting children and adults born without eyes or with underdeveloped eyes.
Every year in the UK, an estimated 114 babies will be born with no eyes (Anophthalmia), small eyes (Microphthalmia), or a cleft in the eye (Coloboma). Many children will have additional needs or other health challenges. Receiving the diagnosis may be an isolating experience for parents; they may feel hopeless and alone

Hereโ€™s what she has to say: โ€œI have decided to run the London Marathon 2025 for MACS, a small national charity supporting children born with anophthalmia, microphthalmia, and coloboma (no eyes or under developed eyes). This is a huge challenge for me both physically and mentally as I've just started my running journey 6 weeks ago!!
Your support will make a big difference for these children and their families, providing vital services and resources. Please dontate and help me reach my goal which will make such a positive impact on their lives. Together we can make a difference! Thank you for your generosity.โ€

Summer walks are fun, but remember, they can turn dangerous quickly I'm the heat. Dogs are susceptible to heatstroke, which can be fatal.

Keep your furry friend safe by walking them during the cooler times of the day and providing plenty of water breaks.

โœ…๏ธ FACT: There is currently no evidence that dry food has teeth-cleaning benefits. It's not enough on its own. Regular brushing, certain chews and professional cleanings are vital for optimal health.

How YOU can spot build up on your pet's teeth ๐Ÿ‘‡

๐Ÿฆท Did you know that plaque and tartar buildup can lead to serious dental issues in your pets? Plaque, a sticky film of bacteria, can accumulate on your pet's teeth within hours of eating. Over time, if not removed through regular brushing or professional cleanings, plaque hardens into tartar, which can lead to gum disease, tooth decay, and other dental problems.

๐Ÿ”Ž Signs of plaque and tartar buildup include: bad breath, yellow or brown discolouration on the teeth, swollen or bleeding gums, difficulty eating or chewing, and (very rarely) changes in behaviour such as pawing at the mouth or reluctance to play with chew toys.

โš ๏ธ If you notice any of these signs, it's essential to schedule a dental exam with your vet promptly. Early detection and treatment of dental issues can prevent pain, discomfort, and more severe health problems down the line.

Remember, prevention is key when it comes to dental health!
By brushing your pet's teeth regularly, providing dental chews or toys, and scheduling annual dental check-ups, you can help prevent plaque and tartar buildup and ensure your pet's teeth and gums stay healthy for years to come.

Just like humans, pet's need regular dental care to keep their teeth and gums healthy and prevent dental disease. ๐Ÿค”

๐Ÿ’ก Establish a daily oral hygiene routine. This includes brushing your pet's teeth regularly with a pet-safe toothbrush and toothpaste. Brushing helps remove plaque and prevent tartar buildup, reducing the risk of gum disease and tooth decay.

๐Ÿฝ Feeding your pet a balanced diet and providing dental chews or toys may help promote oral health by reducing plaque and tartar accumulation. Avoiding excessive amounts of sugary treats and table scraps can also contribute to better dental health for your pet.

๐Ÿ‘€ Be aware of the more obvious signs of dental problems: bad breath, swollen or bleeding gums, loose teeth, and difficulty chewing. If you notice any of these signs, it's essential to schedule a dental exam with your vet promptly.

๐Ÿฉบ Regular vet check-ups are also crucial for maintaining your pet's dental health by spotting early signs of dental disease. During these visits, your vet can perform a thorough dental examination, advise on further professional treatments as needed, and offer guidance on home dental care practices.

๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ Stay proactive in your pet's dental care to prevent dental disease. Reach out to our team with any concerns!

Regular Dental Checks

๐Ÿฆท Did you know that regular dental check-ups are as crucial for your pet's overall health as they are for yours?

Just like us, pets can develop dental issues like plaque buildup, tartar accumulation, and gum disease. By scheduling regular dental check-ups, you're taking proactive steps to ensure your furry friend's mouth stays healthy and pain-free.
During these check-ups, our veterinary team can assess your pet's teeth and guns, identify any signs of dental problems, and recommend appropriate treatment or preventative measures. Remember, a healthy mouth equals a happier pet!

Don't wait until there's a problem - book your pet's dental check-up today! ๐Ÿฆท๐Ÿ•๐Ÿˆโ€โฌ›๐Ÿ‡

After your pet's vet visit, creating a calm and comforting environment at home is essential. ๐Ÿถ

๐Ÿ• Provide a cozy bed or safe space where your furry friend can relax and unwind.

๐Ÿ• Engage them in their favourite activities, whether it's playing with toys, going for walks, or enjoying quiet cuddle time, to uplift their spirits and distract from any lingering anxiety.

๐Ÿ• Monitor their behaviour closely for signs of discomfort.

๐Ÿ• Remember, patience, love, and TLC are vital in helping your pet bounce back from their vet visit with ease.

Your presence and positive energy can make all the difference in helping them feel safe and secure. ๐Ÿถโค๏ธ
