Reduced spaces available for the Summer Dogs Course starting this Saturday at 10am.
Money is tight at the moment, and dog training might be seen as a luxury. But the reality is, an obedience course will give you support, knowledge and experience to deal with many issues you may encounter with your dog in the future, and potentially avoid the need for more expensive behavioural training later in life.
This course is open to all ages.

Gus and Vesper did so well on the first Finishing School Workshop! 🤩
They learned:
• how to be around other dogs without fixating on them
• how to focus on their owners around other dogs
• calm greetings
• how to pass another dog and owner without ignoring them or pulling towards them, and checking in with their owners
This workshop will run again in July if you are interested in your dog learning these essential social skills too.
Well done puppers!
Beautiful boy Bodhi is almost finished with his Reactivity Package, with just one transferring skills session with his owners before they go off to practise on their own.
He's a lovely bouncy boy, and has worked really hard to learn to be more laid back when he sees dogs he likes, and ignore the ones he isn't as keen on.
It's been a pleasure to take him out and show him the ropes 🥰
Little Dixie did so well in her first puppy obedience 121! She learned "drop", "wait" and "get it" in about 5 minutes flat - such a clever puppy 🤩
Dixie has started to chase her kitty sibling, so this little game will provide her an outlet for her natural chasing behaviours (leaving less incentive to chase the cat), whilst adding control when in chase mode to be used in situations where the things she wants to chase aren't toys.
We also covered crate training and some independence games to help her to be more confident and comfortable when her owners leave the room.
Such a sweet girl ❤️
This is why I start my loose lead sessions off by saying we won't be doing "neat" loose lead.
As long as your dog isn't pulling, let them enjoy their walk! It is possible to achieve loose lead without having them stuck to your leg and staring up at you.
I have another loose lead workshop coming up soon if you're interested in learning how!
Shay Kelly is a fantastic member of the dog training community. He's also highly hilarious so you should definitely follow him on Shay Kelly - Understanding Dogs

One space is left on the Troubled Teen Obedience Course starting tomorrow morning at 10:30am at Eppleworth Dog Exercise Park.
Perfect for dogs over 6 months old who need to get a refresher on the basics of obedience, and for owners who are struggling with an adolescent or older dog who jumps up, pulls on lead or struggles to listen in public.
Goodest boy Milo seeing his first dog whilst on his Reactivity Package this week. Lovely look at that's and a couple of switch offs! 🤩
He's a very nervy little guy but he just wants some reassurance 🥹
He did so well! And what a lovely calm dog to experience for his first time too. The perfect kind of dog to practise with 💪
We stopped mid-lesson yesterday to have a little meet and greet practise, which turned into play as both dogs seemed keen ☺️
This is a really lovely example of healthy play. See if you can spot some of the things listed below-
Mirrored play is where dogs will copy each others play signals to "ask" to play, keep play fair and make sure they are both still consenting to play throughout. The signs to look for are taking it in turns to play bow, body shake, sneeze, chase and be chased, be the one on top or the one on the bottom when wrestling.
Handicapped play is when dogs of a different size, maturity and confidence level than their playmate adjust their speed, intensity, and style of play so that the play is more even. For bigger dogs this can mean making themselves closer to the ground, when playing with puppies, older dogs may allow them to win tug of war, and sometimes like in this video, it can mean if you want to play bounce, you give the other dog room to not be squashed, and stop if they don't reciprocate.
Play is good for dogs, but only if it's healthy! 🥰
Yesterday was Shelley's final session of her 121 Puppy Obedience Course.
Her owners have worked really hard on her recall prior to this session, so we headed to Beverley Westwood to test her focus and recall around more distractions (and the added difficulty of strong winds making it difficult to hear).
She did a fantastic job and is well on her way to being a lovely, well rounded dog.
Well done to Shelley and to her pawrents for putting in the work!

The lovely Lulu and her owner travelled all the way up North from East Sussex for a holiday and decided to squeeze in a loose lead 121!
Lulu would pull from being excited and distracted, and almost forget her owner was there let alone attached to her.
For her to be able to do loose lead in a brand new place, with the huge tempting distraction of a duck pond nearby within an hour was absolutely fantastic.
I think a round of applause is required for Lulu and her owner! 👏
I still have a Loose Lead Bundle available for those in desperate need of help with dogs that pull.
2× 121s for £60 instead of £80.
The first hour is held at your home in your local area to go over the basics and build a really strong foundation.
The second session is held at a park to be able to practise around distractions such as other dogs, people, animals, sounds and smells

Second session of Betty's recall bundle at Beverley Westwood ✅️
Two 121s for £60 (£20 off), with the first in a secure field with minimal distractions to set Betty up for success, before the second out in public with lots of sniffs and other dogs to recall away from, and she did fantastic! 🤩
