We're sorry to say we lost another of the old guard last Sunday. We said goodbye to Sunny who is another one that has been with us for more years than we care to think of. He, like many of the others before, spent the last four years or so in retirement being fed, pampered and loved. He will be missed by us all but welcomed by many ###X

It's been lovely to illustrate different areas of horsemanship over the last couple of months and to receive such great feedback from people on how interesting and useful it's been.

We've had a number of requests to show and expand the areas again with a different horse to show similarities and differences. So that's what we are doing starting from Monday 24th June.

Don't miss out on our Masterson Method Equine Bodywork demonstration this Saturday 1st June at 3.00pm.

The Masterson Method is an innovative form of equine massage that allows the horse to release deep, accumulated tension in muscles and connective tissue. Through the use of light touch and gentle movement in a relaxed state, and observation of a range of the horse's responses (these visual and palpable responses tell you what the horse's body is feeling), you'll open doors to improved health and performance while enhancing communication with your horse.

These pictures were taken at our last demo with the lovely Casper, who demonstrated very nicely the tell tale yawning associated with release of tension.

Please book your place via ECPro under Activity Courses. The demo is free to all liveries, loaners and clients so please register to book if necessary.

Another great Horsemanship Social this week focussing on lunging.

We looked at simple circling on a rope line through to the use of further tack. We touched upon the pros and cons of each, options available and ability to choose for horse, handler and situation.

We also looked at how this links with other ground work and ridden work.

On Saturday 1st June we are holding a Masterson Method Bodywork session demonstration.

We will illustrate techniques to reduce tension in the horses body and promote wellbeing, performance and connection.

Some of these techniques are simple ones that can be done by anyone wishing to help improve their relationship with their horse.

We are offering this free of charge to all liveries, loaners and clients. If you aren't already one of these then you can sign up via our website or email [email protected].

Hello All. Due to the ongoing rise in overheads we will need to increase our lesson prices with effect from 1st April 2024. Whilst we appreciate that no one wants to see an increase in their outgoings we need to ensure that we can keep providing good quality facilities and a professional service as well as a high level of care for our horses. We hope you understand the need for our price rise and we thank you for your continued support and understanding. 🙂

Please note our price rise takes affect from Monday 1st April, any bookings made before this date will be at our current prices.

We have an opportunity for someone to join our team as a Yard Supervisor!

As a Yard Supervisor the right person will be caring for a yard of horses, with duties to include horse care and welfare whilst also dealing with both livery and riding school clients and preparing horses for lessons. We offer good working conditions, holiday pay, pension, uniform, clothing allowance and a good rate of pay. The job is for a 3/4 day week and you will be working with a great team of staff who will offer support and ongoing training and the opportunity to develop your equine skills/qualifications.

It’s with great sadness that we had to say goodbye to Monty yesterday. He had been with us for over twenty years and had enjoyed retirement over the last few years. He was a character and will be sadly missed. Please feel free to share any stories/memories of him 😢xx

Unfortunately we had to remain closed today, quite simply the snow was some of the worst we have seen! We managed to slowly get in all the horses that were out, wading through 3 foot snow drifts. Fortunately through walking and the Smeltings Taxi service all the staff eventually made it in to help care for the horses.

Whilst we have done some clearing today we will not be open for lessons tomorrow as there is still too much to do❄️☃️🐴

We are heartbroken to say that yesterday we had to say goodbye to Casper. Like so many of our horses he touched so many life’s over his 30 years and taught so many, not just to ride, but to love and care. He had his cheeky side but this only added to his character. After a long retirement he is now able to join his other friends and we know he will be missed by so many people 😢💔

One of the pictures was the sunset yesterday which seemed a fitting beautiful send off.
