Are you aware of blue-green algae?

What you need to know:

⚠️ Blue-green algae are tiny bacteria found in still, nutrient-rich water.

⚠️ They produce toxins harmful to dogs; about half of exposed dogs die.

⚠️ Most poisonings occur from drinking or swimming in freshwater lakes and ponds.
Symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, muscle tremors, and seizures can appear within an hour.

⚠️ Prevent poisoning by avoiding risky areas, checking algae warnings, and rinsing dogs after swimming.

Keyhole Surgery!
We had Brooke in today for a laparoscopic spay. Our vet Gemma removed her ovaries through two incisions no bigger than a centimetre. This means that Brooke is less painful and can return to normal off lead exercise in 48 hours (compared with 10-14 days with a conventional open spay).

Exciting News!!

We are happy to announce that our vet Gemma is offering laparoscopic speys (and other laparoscopic procedures) at our practice. These ‘keyhole’ procedures provide a much faster and more comfortable recovery than traditional methods and patients can resume normal off lead exercise from as little as 48 hours post surgery.

Gina’s story ❤️

Gina came in for her vaccinations and although she was well, her owner decided she would like a wellness screen (involving a blood test, urine test and blood pressure monitoring). Gina’s blood test results showed that her liver enzymes were elevated and further investigation was carried out. Unfortunately on ultrasound a large liver tumour was found. Gina was referred to a specialist for surgery and the liver tumour was removed successfully. 4 months on, and now 14 years old, thankfully Gina is doing brilliantly! Her owner is so pleased everything has gone well and thankful she carried out a wellness screen!

Storm ❤️

Storm has been visiting us a lot over the past few weeks for bandage changes after his owners noticed a wound on his leg. He can be a nervous boy but has been so brave throughout. He’s enjoyed showing off his bandage art that our nurses created for him and has loved having lots of treats on his visits!

Well done Storm for being so brave!

Luna ❤️
