Gibson & Jones Vets are proudly supporting Cats Protection and their local Abertawe branch as they launch their new and improved neutering scheme, focused on reaching those cats most in need.

Cats Protection have for many years supported the local community in neutering their cats. It is important to neuter cats for many reasons, especially if they like to explore their garden and local area. Neutering your cat can not only prevent unwanted pregnancies but also reduces the risk of cat fights leading to injury and the spread of feline diseases.

We have a beautiful black cat brought to the practice today after being found in Highland Terrace, Dunvant.

Unfortunately, no microchip was found.

He's just over a year old, black and white and is microchiped, he does not have a collar on
He's not used to being out this long so may have been scared and gone a bit further than normal for him

🍫🐶 Chocolate Toxicity 🐶🍫

Why is chocolate toxic to dogs? 🤔
Chocolate contains theobromine, which is a chemical that is similar to caffeine. Dogs are particularly sensitive to theobromine, and it can be poisonous to them. Darker and more expensive chocolates usually have more theobromine and are more likely to be harmful to dogs.
Theobromine can make dogs unwell in a number of different ways, but its main effect is to cause an overstimulation of their muscles, including their heart.
Other symptoms can include:
⚠️ Vomiting
⚠️ Diahorrea
⚠️ Increased thirst and urination

Meet the incredibly handsome Dexter 😍🩵

Dexter had a castration procedure recently, and here he is recovering post operatively in his medical body suit after being a very brave boy 😇

A medical body suit is an alternative to the 'cone / lampshade' option to stop your pet from licking their surgical site 🐕🐈

Approximately 4-6 months old, grey and white but not microchipped.
He was found on Caergynydd road.

Our fantastic vet Sandra received a special gift this week from a wonderful and very talented client ❣️
Kevin, the Chihuahua, has been visiting the surgery for an eye issue, which has thankfully started to heal. His extremely clever owner handmade a miniature version of Kevin for Sandra 🐶 isn't he wonderful ☺️
