In memory of Hairy Biker Dave Myers, there will be a large volume of motorcycles traveling through the south of the county this weekend - part of a convoy from London to Dave's home town of Barrow-In-Furness where memorial events are taking place.

In the lead up to Dave Day - and for the days after - you will notice a significant increase of motorcycles on the roads around Cumbria, therefore please...

- Take extra time to look, especially at junctions.
- Thoroughly check blind spots before manoeuvering.
- Keep your distance; motorcycles will generally stop quicker than larger vehicles.
- Pass carefully; give slow moving bikes plenty of room.

Other large events are also taking place this weekend in the south of the county, including the Arla Great North Swim at Windermere, so plan ahead and expect delays due to traffic from Junction 36 M6 and along the A590 to Barrow-In-Furness.

Business of the Week

Animal lovers Andrea Rumney and her partner Mark began their business three years ago although they don’t really see what they do as work. “Walking customer's dogs is simply a fun filled walk for us and to be chosen to care for people's beloved pets is an honour.”

Covering a 20 mile radius around Wigton the experienced duo not only offer dog walking services, they also can provide home visits, horse care, pet sitting and even a pet taxi service.

Constantinos Theophanous regularly uses the service. He said: “Andrea is the most reliable, friendly, passionate and affectionate pet sitter I have ever met in my life. I feel very comfortable that Andrea will take care of the household and doggies.”

🎆 Are you and your pet prepared for bonfire night and Diwali which will be celebrated in the coming weeks?

Loud bangs and bright flashing lights can be very stressful for pets and their owners, so we wanted to share a few measures you can put in place to help your pet, including a great pet playlist, which you can play to help distract your pet from the frightful fireworks.

While fireworks light up the skies, we advise you to:
🎆 stay at home with your pet;
🎆 ensure they have access to fresh water;
🎆 close curtains, blinds, windows and keep doors closed;
🎆 provide a safe space with bedding for your pet to snuggle in, and
🎆 consider bringing small animals inside.
