Throughout November 2023 we are asking pet owners to return any unused or leftover antibiotic medications to us for safe disposal. Please drop off any unused medications to our Worthing branch. You can hand them in to a vet, nurse or the reception team.
To say that grass seeds are the bane of the veterinary teams lives at the moment would be an understatement. So many of our canine patients suffer with these annoying things and this is a really bad year for us having to search ears, noses, between toes and even in eyes and mouths for these annoying items.
Today we had 4 animals having to be sedated to explore for them.
This video shows vet Jonathan removing one from the ear of a beautiful dog called Hazel. A picture of the offending seed can also be found in the comments.
If you would like further advise or are concerned about your pet having a grass seed lurking somewhere on them, then please do not hesitate to contact our team.
Tick crawling
It's the time of year these little creatures start to become a lot more prevalent.
Ticks like to hang out in long grasses and wait for a suitable host to walk past for them to grab on to and suck a blood meal from. They can attach to humans as well as our pets and can cause illnesses such as Lyme disease. Correct removal of an attached tick is crucial as leaving mouth parts behind can cause more of a problem, DO NOT just pull with tweezers using a proper tick remover is advised.
Make sure your pet is up to date with their parasite treatment to prevent these creatures causing a problem and if they are a member of our Pet Health club you have the benefit of year round parasite treatment included in the monthly payment!
If you would like further information about products to prevent your pet having Ticks as a problem or if you find one on your pet do not hesitate to contact the team 01903 202474.
