Ashburton trainer-driver John Morrison was the man of the moment at Oamaru today after his wins in the Waitaki Hotel Kurow Cup for pacers with Jimmyray and the Temuka Transport (1967) Ltd Kurow Trotters Cup with Galleons Ambassador. Jimmyray , who went to the front at the 1600m was headed inside the last 100m but came again to win by a nose from Shepherds Delight who trailed him. Jimmyray is raced by his Waimate breeder, Trevor Cleave and it was the seventh win for the American Ideal gelding.

Galleons Ambassador repeated her win of last year in the $20,000 feature for trotters. She trailed in third place in the hands of trainer John Morrison, challenged for the lead at the 400m and comfortably held off Ti Amo Belle by three quarters of a length.

The 3yr-old filly Millie Let Loose won at her second start. She is trained at Rakaia by Stuart Sutherland who races the daughter of Superfast Stuart – Foot Loose with G S Doody. She was driven by John Morrison.

Morrison has a strong hand in Kurow cup races on Sunday

Ashburton trainer John Morrison has a strong hand with Galleons Ambassador and Jimmyray in the Cup races at the Kurow Harness Racing Club meeting on the all-weather track at Oamaru on Sunday.

Galleons Ambassador won the Temuka Transport (1967) Ltd Kurow Trotters Cup 12 months ago and she will again start off the front. She has been minor placed in her last six starts suggesting she is ready to regain winning form.

Jimmyray is in the Waitaki Hotel Kurow Cup for pacers, a race Morrison won two years ago with Harrison. Jimmyray has won six races, four on all-weather tracks. He won at Addington in June. He is up to the mark with a trial win there on July 24.
