Our mission is to ensure they receive a safe and loving environment along with the attention and respect they deserve. Folley Farm is a nonprofit sanctuary based in south Auckland, that cares for over 100 animals, including cats, sheep, goats, ponies, pigs, ducks, and cows. The sanctuary was founded by Paula Wolley and Steve Matthews, who have a passion and dedication for rescuing, rehabilitating,

and rehoming animals in need. The sanctuary relies on donations, volunteers, and supporters to provide food, shelter, medical care, and enrichment for the animals. The sanctuary also advocates for animal welfare and educates the public about the treatment and care of animals. The Sanctuary has been operating since 2018 and has faced many challenges and difficulties over the years, such as dealing with multiple surgeries, infections, kidney failures, and cancers among the animals. The sanctuary has also witnessed many miracles of healing and happiness, such as Lucky the cat who survived a life-threatening condition and received spicialised surgery so that he now lives a happy normal cat life. The sanctuary has given its heart, voice, and all to souls that cannot fight against the cruelty, violence, and injustice inflicted upon them. Last week was incredibly difficult for us as we unexpectedly lost two of our beloved sheep.

First, we had our handsome and incredibly gentle baby, Dobby. He suddenly began straining to urinate, so we called the vet, who took blood samples that indicated a blockage. Surgery was performed immediately to remove a stone. We managed to lower his temperature and gave him plenty of fluids to flush his kidneys, but it wasn't enough. He had already given up and passed away cradled in my arms at 1:30 AM. Dobby, my heart shatters yet again. I will miss you, funny boy. May you be at peace with Steve; I know he will look after you. Dobby was only 7 years old. 😭💔

The day before Dobby passed, we lost one of our older ewes who died suddenly while the vet was simply drenching her. It was horrifying to witness, and it was unbelievable since she was only 5 and otherwise seemed to be in excellent health. Rest in peace, dear angel. Your little boy will be well loved. ❣️💔😢

Marmalade is a stunning one-year-old ginger cat with a shy personality. He's looking for a patient and understanding home where he can adjust at his own pace. Folley Farm

Folley Farm is a non- profit organisation caring for over 100 beautiful animals ranging from Cows, sheep, goats, pigs, dogs, cats, and kittens. Some animals are relinquished as unwanted pets, others are abused or abandoned, a small percentage are surrendered due to owners change of circumstances, often where the owners are left distraught and devastated over having to surrender their loved pet. Our purpose is to help and assist where we can in providing safety, protection, nourishment, and love for all animals large or small. Folley Farm has a no kill policy, residents of Folley Farm are here for their natural lives and we also provide temporary lodgings for abandoned and desperate animals while forever homes are found.

OUR ASPIRATIONS:

We are currently building a cattery to house the many cats/kittens that are becoming a constant stream. We want to provide a warm, safe, and stimulating environment for our cats/kittens while they are either recovering from illness or surgery or needing lodging while waiting for that special family/person to adopt them. The cattery will also be designed to receive visitors who cannot for whatever reason own a cat/kitten themselves but would like to experience warm fuzzy’s while relaxing with them. Another important element of the cattery will be for prospective adopters to be able to mix and mingle with the cats prior to adoption so cats and human can get to know each other and make sure the right personalities match.

We would also like to implement this exciting concept with our farm animals by opening Folley Farm to schools and educating children on animal welfare, giving the children a positive experience while interacting with animals so they get to see them as the loving, emotional and intelligent individuals that they are.
