Pumpkin festival is always a highlight of my calender. Today was no exception, while quieter than previous years, it did mean we could spend a little longer with people that did come through and it struck me, as it always does taking our horses into the community, what a truly blessed life we walk in. Today, I put my camera down, and I listened to stories. I watched shy little hands carefully touch velvet muzzles. I saw faces light up, when moments before they seemed to have the weight of world on them. I saw little people go away and fetch their friends to share the magic these little mares spread (oh and to claim a lollipop). So the photos are scarce, but my memory bank is full, to each of you that stopped, thank you. You filled my cup. To my darling Puddy and Clementine.... my precious little mares, if only you knew the sunshine you spread today.

This little girl! I'm out of action, well kind of, so she's had to muddle along solo getting Larry prepped. Today she wanted to try the scary tray in a new environment so off we jogged next door. It's not perfect by any means, it's not even overly "correct" - but I'm immensely proud of this little human, and her little horse who isn't without a few hang ups! I so appreciate her effort and the whole process 😍

Well Classy, Alice and Roxy might have all planned the exact same paint job on their babies, but they were less uniform when it comes to, ummmm, let's call it enthusiasm....

Tiny Elijah, the oldest, fancies himself as the next Messi.

Middle, but by far the biggest girl, Tinkerbell is all about that bass and woman's rights.

Youngest little ballerina, Toffeepop is the shygirl, and while she's not scared to stand up herself in a group of her peers their antics do mildly alarm her.

As 2023 winds to a close, and I'm waiting for my new season taties to do their thing for the best roasties in the world (method thanks to Pyne) I've been entranced by the view from my kitchen, my broodmare paddock with 3 incredible mares, each one the dam of many many champions in their lifetimes. 3 black beauties that each gifted us with the most amazing foals this season.
The foals, all 3 Bay with a bold star are all so different, yet so distinctly stamped with our "look" that we are very proud of.
Thank you Lucky and Leo, and thank you Classy, Roxy and our beloved Alice.
It's been a year, where, as for many the hurdles have been high and frequent but we made it, there were a few tears along the way, but somehow the sun came back out just when we needed it and the smiles and love and laughter carried us through.

Thank you friends for walking alongside us, thank you to our amazing cows, our beautiful farm and the incredible horses that we share our lives with.
Thank you Aaron, Tilly, Connor and Finn for doing life with me. I love you guys too the ends of the earth.

Tokomairiro Show - well, we learnt our lesson last outing and were significantly more sun safe! Tilly dusted herself off and was ready to head back out with darling Larry (Arcadia Farms L'amour) and Spice Girl Esmè (Esmeralda KMH). Also on the team for Saturday was Spice Girl #2 Violet KMH and Hugo (Grand Miniatures RM To Hot for Sox) and we were joined by Tanisha and Justine Pyne and the delightful Snowy (Four Seasons Snow Comment) and Spice Boy Duke (Usher KMH)... last minute human addition was the utterly epic Savanna, thrown in the deep end!

The day started with coffee from Heart and Soul café in Clutha (who also sent us a wicked picnic lunch! Delish!!) and, as every show day is, was filled with moments that make memories to cherish.

Connor managed to capture a few of my favourite moments with his camera. I'm so proud of his talent, and blessed to have the stories captured in his photos.

Tilly learnt that yearlings are pretty tough, and that sometimes to compete is the biggest win. Savanna worked hard and went home with a swag of ribbons from our team (and has agreed to wearing a dress again hahaha). Aaron finally got to show his own filly now that she's gotten her head round life. Camp mum extraordinaire Justine got out there with her Snowy girl and Hugo got to remind everyone that he gives NOTHING away and that if he's not in the zone it's best to just give him a cookie and walk on by. Oh and yes, that's a big old red ribbon on my amazing neighbours big horse's neck. But we don't mention her. She's not into socials. Lol.

Very proud of Grace who owns the lovely little gelding we bred Posiedon P for her performance results - not even duckies not in a row could put her little team off!

Well done to everyone, loved seeing some familiar faces. Thank you to the people that make all this happen, and join us on this crazy adventure.

The horses are getting a well deserved break from showing for a bit now... but just like old Arnie, we will be back.

November saw us welcome 2 of our 3 foals due into the world!

Both babies are everything we hoped for planning the breedings, we're so very lucky to have such awesome mares and consistent stallions!

Ah Clemmy, there's a very small short in the gateway. I always switch the fence unit off before letting them in or out. Her little friend, Puddy, doesn't even flinch she knows I won't let her get zapped.... Clemmy is a little more dramatic, it takes her a moment to pluck up the courage to cross lightning ridge (despite the lightning being switched off)

Tapanui show started with a very fresh Antarctic style morning which saw me resigning at least 4 times, threatening to run away with Chuckie twice and pledging allegiance to whomever could bring the sun. Thankfully, we took Puddy (Bluegables Raves Creme Brulee) rug off and her goldeness warmed my dead soul back to life.

As always I was incredibly proud of our horses. Busy little Tiffany (Valentine KMH) has really started to get her head round being a show horse and understands that she has plenty of opportunity to express her enthusiasm without being a kite. She really shows well for Aaron, who gets the best out of her, as he did with Patti... a neat family!

Puddy and Tilly, well be still my beating heart. As Tilly says, earth unicorns have to hide their horns, but you can still tell because they're amazing like Puddy.... she's not wrong. A little fairy tale darling, with just enough sass to match Tilly's growing confidence. I was immensely proud with Tilly's great sportsmanship and beautiful manners in the ring today.

And then of course, my bestest boy, Chuckie. He just is so incredibly fun to show, he lives for the limelight, and love him or hate him he commands your attention.

Well done to everyone competing, and thank you to Grace Morrissey who very kindly helped wirh the Hunter course. This young lady went above and beyond and is just a good egg!

Pretty proud of our WA-Full Unique Leonardo- (owned in partnership with Debbie Devine of Claremont American Shetlands) they say consistency is the true Champion and consistent he is.

Sunday at MHCONO and OCD&MHC B show saw his progeny bring home the roses over all ages and stages.

Some spectacular horses, beautifully presented - notably 2 Leo's competed in youth classes and the unanimous Supreme B (Claremont Xquisite Eliza owned by Debbie) being unmistakably a Leo kid. RU under J2 a beautiful Leo Gelding, Claremont Just Dennis.

Huge congrats to all owners and fans of these incredible horses that just do the business time and again.

Leo has influenced some of the top breeding programmes in the country now, with his get and grand get continuing to add that quality, movement and x factor.

This beautiful mare never gets enough airtime. She's been part of my herd for more than a decade, and has blessed us with incredible babies including Bellagio KV (x Believe KV) aka Bolty and Tilly's own Truman KV (x Truly Ajman) aka Theo. She's an absolute joy to have around, our beloved Alice (RP Miss World).
She's ptif to Truly Ajman for a 2023 foal.... not that we're counting down or anything

I can't recall the last time this lad wore a rug, he gets brushed where Tilly can reach and just lives best life sharing his cookies with his little mini ladies.
Naturally beautiful, Naturally kind.... you can go a lifetime never knowing a horse this special.
We are lucky no pun intended.

It's been just a minute since I got to hang out with this kid.... his actual birthday last week saw him get a fresh paddock and a handful of cookies..
But finally today the kids and I took my darling Chuckie and his buddies Hugo and Larry some carrot cake.

All 3 spent an inordinate amount of time spooking at the "table" before actually participating like non ferals but 'tis the season of magical grass and farting unicorns lol.

Happy (belated) Chuckie, always and forever my favourite child and the baddest of bad boys xx

Horses? What horses? This time last year we were 2 foals into the breeding season, juggling calves, mud and foal watch - this year I'm super grateful our foals are due a little later as calving has been pretty thick and fast.

As always our team are legendary. New to the crew this year is Connor... who is freakily talented with the nervous young heifers (a source of great amusement for the rest of the crew) and Kyla (Lucas our herd managers partner, and a total whizz with tricky feeders) is on Calves with me.

This year the farm is finally getting that "Aaron" feel to it, the cows look good, they're happy and working hard. That's in no small part due to our shed manager and general superstar Jayda.

Look at our beautiful beefie babies! Really enjoying these big kids, they are a real change of pace to zippy opinionated little heifers!

I don't recall if I've officially introduced Ernie? He's the "chicken little" of the horse world, and is quite sure the sky is aimed directly for him. Ernie came as a preschool kid, to offer for sale on behalf... and he is available to the perfect home that will understand his idiosyncrasies, but until then he's just part of the furniture around here.
Being Captain Sceptical means he's quite fussy about treats, but when our good friend Sarah at Kingscourt Equestrian ordered him a bespoke custom iced Equine Eats 'n' Treats NZ Ernie cookie he even braved Tilly to claim his prize.
Quite partial to this little Spotty lad and his soft sensitive ways 😍 and the cookie was GORGEOUS!

Aaron and I dashed up to Chch yesterday to pick up some very precious cargo.... one of our treasures is a horse that held my heart in his hoof from the first breath he took. Right from his earliest days his kindness shone through, the epitome of an old soul. Until you've met him you can't really imagine the depth of his heart and soul. As a beautiful gelding, from a phenomenal family we sold him to an amazing home with Alice Speedy and her daughter Harriet. They loved him, and treasured him and educated him so beautifully... and now, they've let him come home. I don't think I can ever really express how grateful I am. So here he is, my beautiful Truman KV, home, and hidden until Tilly's birthday on Tuesday where she'll meet her new buddy. I can't wait to share their journey with you.
