New to the ranch from Double LL Farms; this gorgeous bay c**t is out of Mighty Nice, sired by Runaway Ghost. Purchased August 16th at the New Mexico Bred Yearling sale in Ruidoso for under $8k. Name is pending with the Jockey Club and will be revealed soon. Thank you Double LL Farms for showing us this magnificent horse♡

Sadly, My Special Mistake will not be joining the team in Ruidoso this year, instead he will be coming home to the Ranch to recover from an injury. His mom looks forward to having him home, nursing him back to health, and if all goes well he will hit the track again here in Albuquerque. We wish him a speedy recovery and await anxiously to see him run again. Best wishes!

My Special Mistake ran in his 9th race this weekend in the "Casino at the Downs Thuroughbred Derby"; a $100,000 stake. We are so proud of him for making it this far. He did amazing, and while we didnt win the race we are proud of his accomplishments and everything the Team has done♡ We'll see you on the track in 2 weeks🏇

"In addition to the horse’s mental development, we must also be aware of how the horse’s underneck can prevent throughness. The underneck is often the place that prevents the horse’s energy from flowing through from back to front. Tension or holding of the underneck serves as a kind of dam—a wall—that stops the energy," says Olympian Lisa Wilcox.

"When the underneck relaxes, the crest of the neck lowers, and that’s when you see that beautiful arc in the middle of the neck. When this muscle is visible, the horse is carrying his neck. This muscle enables the development of the topline. With training, that muscle becomes very well defined. Unfortunately, too often horses are developing very strong undernecks. The overdeveloped underneck can be related to the horse’s conformation (low set-on neck) or sometimes it’s because the rider is holding on to the rein to keep her balance in the saddle, which causes the horse to hold with the underneck to support the rider."

In this photo, Wilcox points out a bulging lower neck. When the underneck relaxes from your half halts, the neck lowers and you get that beautiful arc along the topline. We build the crest on this, and the top muscle becomes very defined while the lower muscle atrophies.

She's a gorgeous 1 year old Quarterhorse beauty with a winning pedigree on both sides. She the granddaughter of winners Big Daddy Cartel & Separatist. She will be making her debut at the 2024 NM State Fair Futurity. Welcome Home Girl🩶

We've just received some devastating news. A Royal Storm will be coming home to NM. He has been with his Trainer for a few months but doesn't seem to be adjusting to the track life so unfortunately we will have to retire him as a race horse. His mom still has big plans for him♡
