Call to Action – Tell VBOG you OPPOSE the vet tech apprenticeship

NAVTA needs your help.

In October of 2022, the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council (WSATC) approved an unaccredited apprenticeship program proposed by Cascade Veterinary Clinics. The process has now moved to the Veterinary Board of Governors (VBOG) to approve language in the Washington Administrative Code (WAC) as an approved pathway to licensure, and they’re calling for comments.

We need your voice to make sure a rigorous AVMA-accredited education remains the standard for veterinary technician licensure.

Background In May 2022, the Veterinary Board of Governors (VBOG) voted to endorse a proposed apprenticeship program as a pathway to become Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs). The proposal was brought forward by Cascade Veterinary Clinics (a single three-hospital entity) in central Washington and...

"Many clients do not realize that veterinary nurses/technicians perform medical procedures and are educated, skilled members of the veterinary healthcare team." It is up to us to change those imperceptions by educating consumers of veterinary medicine.

A recent survey indicated that pet owners gained more comfort with veterinary nurses once they better understood their role, training, and skills.

Ready to have your unicorn mind blown?!
VTT is providing FREE CE to the veterinary community!
As many of you know VTT (Vet Team Training) is starting down a new path of providing amazing CE to veterinary technicians/nurses BY veterinary technicians/nurses.

I want to showcase how awesome vet techs and vet nurses are!
ONLY VET TECHS & VET NURSES WILL BE LECTURING FOR VTT. 🦄 💪

I want to give back to the amazing profession that I love.
While it costs money to get CE RACE approved, to have a platform to host the CE and yes, I'm paying speakers, I want to deliver a certain amount for free every year.

Some of these are RACE pending (clearly marked and will be updated as they are approved). They will all be RACE approved for vet techs/vet nurses. The only question is if they will be RACE approved for veterinarians.

Can veterinarians attend? Absolutely!
Vet techs are some of the best educators in the world!

Here's what I have mapped out so far:
CPR Basic Life Support (Speaker: Amy Newfield)
The Anesthesia Machine (Speaker: Donna Sisak)
Block Cats (Speaker: Tami Lind)
Pain Management for Surgery Patient (Speaker: Donna Sisak)
Bad Veins (Amy Newfield)
Critical Care Case Studies (Megan Brashear)

ALL FREE!! BY VET TECHS FOR VET TECHS!
