Hospital Hours for June 2024

Our hospital is open Monday-Friday from 7:30am-5:30pm. We will have the following Saturday office hours for June and we are closed Sundays.

🐾Saturday, June 8th - Open 8am-12pm - We will have staff available for food and medication pickup as well as select appointments with a Technician.

🐾Saturday, June 22nd - Open 8am - 12pm We will have a Veterinarian available for medical appointments and staff for all other services.

Our normal hours are Monday - Friday from 7:30am - 5:30pm and Saturdays from 8am -12pm.

Please note our May changes to our normal office hours:
Saturday, May 4th - there is no Veterinarian on duty, staff are available for food/medication pickups and scheduling.

Our friends at ARVO are traveling again this weekend to provide needed veterinary care to remote Alaskan communities.

Donations of pet food can be dropped off at our hospital and ARVO will get them to Alaskan communities in need.

ARVO brought this very sweet female dog to Anchorage from Togiak: We would like to thank Togiak Animal Control, Janessa Sheets, for rescuing this beautiful pup and fostering her until a spot became available for her! We thank Grant Aviation https://www.facebook.com/GrantAviation/ for donating her flight to Dillingham. We thank Dan Boyd in Dillingham for helping with the transfer between planes. And we would like to thank Friends of Pets - Anchorage for accepting Nala into their adoption program. She is a super sweet, very loving, happy and high energy pup and whoever will be able to add her to their family will be very blessed. Together, we all can make a difference, a world of difference, for each animal that we can help.

Today, from 1-2pm, we will be closed for team continuing education. Companion Animal will be offering additional training on our cold laser therapy added to our hospital in Fall 2023. Laser therapy is used to promote patient healing of tissues after surgery/injury and arthritis/joint pain.

Yes, the session is about lasers 🔦, and there will be pizza 🍕, but it may not be as fun as the picture looks.

We are happy to report 6 bags of dog food have been donated to ship this weekend. ARVO’s goal is to ship up to 20 bags this round and they can be dropped off with us during our office hours, M-F 7:30-5:30 and Sat 8-12.

Update: ARVO currently has 8 bags with a goal of 20. Donations dropped off before 1pm on Friday, 2/2 will ship to Marshall, Alaska, a remote community located 400 miles West of Anchorage.

Donations dropped off later will still benefit other communities ARVO will travel to this spring/summer.

ARVO is collecting dog food to feed hungry outdoor dogs! In Alaska, lots of dogs live outside. If they are well-fed, they are better able to survive the arctic Alaskan winter temperatures. Unfortunately, many rural pet owners cannot afford to pay the high prices of commercial dog food in rural stores. We are asking you to please drop off dog food, kibble, canned (any size/brand, except possibly Purina as there are allegations of possible contamination) so that we can ship it to various communities in need. On top of our list is MARSHALL. Many more communities need help! We will keep on shipping food as long as folks drop off food!

With the New Year approaching, there will be fireworks, and likely guests in the home. Here are few tips on how to keep your pet safe such as ensuring they are wearing collars with up to date ID, playing white noise, and calling us today if you need a refill of their sedatives.

We are open today until 5:30pm, and Saturday, 12/30 from 8am-noon. 🎆

Just Kidding - this tummy has 1/2 a Gingerbread House in there! Though not toxic, indulging in too many holiday treats can make your pet feel unwell. Be sure to keep holiday items, toxic foods and plants, out of your pet’s reach.
