What programs do we offer at Black Hawk Hill?

Black Hawk Hill is an educational 501(c)3 nonprofit facility that was established to meet the needs of the youth in our communities.

Although we offer several programs, we see the biggest benefits from our Equine-assisted learning (EAL) programs for the youth in our communities.

EAL is a skills development program that does not involve riding. Activities include a variety of curriculum-based offerings, which provide an opportunity for participants to partner with horses to facilitate the development of life skills including confidence, courage, relationship building, leadership, and trust.

We've found that youth ages 8-16 including students, disengaged learners, kinesthetic learners, and at-risk youth received the biggest benefits from our EAL programs.

All programming and workshops can be designed specifically for individual groups based on desired outcomes. Sessions and workshops are facilitated by a Certified EAL Facilitator to ensure that all activities occur safely for both humans and horses.

Group sizes typically range from 2-8 participants and cost is based on the program length, number of participants, and materials required.

How Horses Help Kids with Emotional & Behavioral Issues | Aspen Education Programs

We see the biggest impact with the kids that need it most as the horses take them out of their element, provide opportunities for connection, team work and success.

A kind of magic happens when a desperately unhappy child is brought to the country to interact with horses. A change of environment, especially from an urban area to open, natural surroundings, filled with fresh air and flooded with sunshine, can have an uplifting and calming effect, and with time,....
