Hello Red lovers!!!!!

We have HUGE news!!!!!! Red has officially been adopted by an AMAZING family!

He will have 3 fur siblings and a human teenager brother! His new parents are well aware of his needs and are more than happy to take care of all of them!

His surgery went well and it appears he doesn’t have mouth pain but jaw pain! We think Red May have been hit by a car at some point in his early life and that would explain his bad jaw & scarring.

The best part of the news is THIS, the family that adopted Red are some of my greatest friends and I will get to see Red ALL THE TIME, EVEN FOR SLEEPOVERS!!!

I am so thankful to all of you who cared and shared Reds story. Please help APA and AAC if you can, you guys. Some of these dogs have been in concrete cages for more than 3 years. Money helps, time helps, fostering helps, spreading awareness helps.

Red was thrown away by his former family. All of us, working together gave him the happy ending that he (and many others) deserve. They can’t help themselves and that’s where we come in!

Paws crossed for our favorite Red boy! He’s having surgery today so we can look in his mouth and make sure everything is A-ok. He’s also having a few moles removed so he’s pretty much getting a beauty makeover! Here comes the cone of shame!

We had a GREAT visit at the vet yesterday. Red was so brave and cooperative and he never made a peep, not even when they drew blood or trimmed his nails! He got an excellent bill of health from the vet he is a healthy & happy boy! Red is available for adoption through Austin Pets Alive!

I came home at lunch today not knowing what to expect. Red had been home alone for the first time since I’ve started fostering him and I walked in to this! He hadn’t disturbed a thing or even tried to get on the couch! What an amazing dog!!!!! Red is available for foster or adoption through Austin Pets Alive!

Immediately after Red and I left Austin Pets Alive! he got a fancy bath at Healthy Pet and slept through the entire night! He never tried to get on any of the furniture and was the perfect house guest! No barking, no whining and no accidents! What a guy!!!!!

Red is available for foster or adoption through Austin Pets alive and here is his story. Red is a 7 year old lab mix who was surrendered by his family of 5 years on October 13th.

They gave him up because they had a baby and they were moving. He was reported by them to be great with everyone in the house, including the child. Red loves all people and dogs big and small!

His former family found him as a stray when he was 2. While he lived with them he lived with 4 other dogs(3 small and 1 large) and he got along with all of them! He has not been tested with cats.

Red is completely potty (bell) trained. He was left alone for 8-10 hours a day and showed no destructive tendencies or had any accidents.

They dropped him at The Austin Animal Center on 10/13/19 and he was completely bewildered. He was so sad and confused and waited for his parents to come back but they never did.

On 10/15/19 he was transferred to Austin Pets Alive! so they could take a look at a few lumps and bumps he has (hey, who doesn't?!) the good news is that they cleared him medically and Red is ready for his new home!

On October 21st his temporary foster mom took him home and is determined to help this sweet, kind, friendly boy find his forever home but time is short. She can only foster Red for two weeks so please share him far and wide! We don't want this guy to have to return to the outdoor, scary kennels at Town Lake Animal Center.
