Had a great time this weekend at the Smack Dab trial at the Farm. Nice courses all weekend and incredible weather. Nice to hear everyone cheering for everyone! This was our first trial since March and only our second since last fall. We’ve been working through some pelvis issues with Cap although I believe I know what’s causing it now. Just stared jumping 20 inches this week. She started out the weekend really freaked out, remembering the scary stuff that happened at the last trial there in March. She did a lot better on Saturday and was pretty much herself. And Sunday morning before jumpers, she really freaked out again, trying to get out of the building. She did work through it a bit but started out slower than normal on her jumpers run and really picked up speed when she ran past that scary back door. I figured out that when the last scary episode happen in March, we came through the crate room door which is what I did on that jumpers run yesterday. For standard, I came through the other door and she was just fine. She remembers everything. Very rusty through the weekend but we did manage a QQ yesterday. Standard wasn’t pretty, but we made it through. Here are those runs.
Trialed this past weekend at The Farm. Challenging courses but happy with how Cap ran. Q in Standard on Sunday and an almost perfect run in JWW on Sunday until…Cap went around the last jump. Luckily, not on a QQ! Here are those runs.
Went to our first trial in almost four months. Made the trip up to Waukesha for the Dobe trial there. It was really nice to see people I haven’t seen in a long time, and Captive was SOOOO happy to run. She had a minor injury so we just started training again a couple weeks ago. Definitely rusty starting out Saturday but we got progressively better over the weekend. I pushed her around the last jump in JWW on Sunday, other wise clean on a VERY challenging course for big dogs with multiple handler restrictions and clean in Standard on Sunday. It was a fun weekend. Here is her Standard run from yesterday.
Tried to post a few days ago but apparently, it didn’t post. First trial in months but we did OK. A little rust, especially in JWW but Captive ran great both days! Here’s her Standard run from Saturday at WAG. Fun and challenging courses with ROOM for all dogs to run! David Hirsch was the judge.
Taking advantage of a perfect almost 70 degree day to do some jump training with little Gravity! First time doing jump chutes. She’s figuring it out. We did a lot of one jump work and it’s paying off 😊. Good pup!
Haven’t posted in a while but here is Captive’s first run in four months. WAG in Spring Grove, IL did a fantastic job of holding a very safe trial, our first one back. They had little dogs run both JWW and STD, then had big dogs do the same to make sure there were less than 50 people in the very large building. Real time online running order so you knew when to go into the building to run along with text messages to give info on walk throughs, etc. along with online access to course maps and results. You only needed to be in the building for a very short time. AND Masks required ALL THE TIME, even when running (the most important time since exhaling more spreads the virus more). Over 800 runs and no one complained and everyone complied without issue. Fun to run again.
Cap’s runs from this weekend. We had one bar in several of her runs but I’m really happy with how she ran. The JWW runs were some of her fastest with 7.5 yps and 7.4 yps respectively in the video. Here are four of the five we got taped (I’ll spare you the 5th 😜). Always homework to do!
Huge Thanks to Forest City Dog Training Club for an awesome trial this weekend. I even won the worker raffle today and got a new embroidered collar for Fusion. Great challenging courses by judge Ben Gibbs, with tons of SPACE!!!! It’s been so frustrating the last couple months and was SO thankful to see him use the entire ring and have actual room between obstacles!! Captive really ran great all weekend, just overtraining the tunnel trap this week hurt a little 😖. Thankfully ended the weekend on a nice Standard Q and what should have been a QQ, but for the tunnel she went around at the end of JWW 😩. It was a pretty perfect run until then! Great turns including a phenomenal wrap. Such a heartbreaker! Fusion won her class both days in JWW and one missed last weave pole in Standard today and one little foot back on the dogwalk yesterday when she left early but she ran nicely. Here is Cap’s Standard run from Sunday.
A few more runs from this weekend. Fever’s (10 1/2 yrs) Standard run on Friday and a couple more Captive runs 🤗.
Ran only today at the FCDTC trial in Loves Park. Here’s Cap’s Masters Standard Q. (2nd pl) Only 6 20” Masters dogs made it through this one!
Thanks to the Tree Town Boxer club for a very fun trial this weekend. Some fun but Challenging courses. I ran Captive all 3 days and Fusion just got one run JWW run on Saturday. Captive ran great all weekend, coming home with two nice Masters Standard Q’s (with placements) and close in JWW Friday and Sat. We won’t talk about My handling on Sunday! All my fault. Fusion just had a little detour to the highly rewarded weaves in her run but ran very well. Had to leave early to pick up my car from the shop so didn’t get to run her in Standard. Here is my favorite run, Saturday’s Masters Standard run. Tough course, trappy and tight, especially for the big dogs. Very proud her contacts and table. No way to get through this course if she didn’t stay on that table 🙂.
