The Dermatology service at Texas A&M specializes in diagnosing and treating diseases of the skin, ears, claws, and allergy in all companion animals.

The Veterinary Dermatology service at Texas A&M University specializes in diagnosing and treating diseases of the skin, ears, claws, and allergy in both small and large companion animals. Two full time board certified veterinary dermatologists, with the support of a full time veterinary technician and fourth year veterinary students on the dermatology rotation, work with owners to help manage thei

r pet’s skin disease and improve their quality of life. Texas A&M also has two board certified veterinary dermatopathologists who work with the clinical dermatologists to help diagnose skin disease when biopsy is indicated. Access to specialists in other areas of veterinary medicine as well as state-of-the-art technology provides excellent opportunities for animal care. If your pet has skin problems, we are happy to help you and your pet’s primary care veterinarian in managing their condition! Please contact the clinic to schedule an appointment!

Fuzzy Face of the Day: TJ
TJ came to see us for the loss of his guard hairs and areas of complete hair loss. We suspect "Alopecia X" may be the cause of his nakedness. This is a condition seen in Pomeranians and other plush coated breeds. After his skin biopsies he got lots of snuggles and quickly grew into one of our favorite patients. We hope to see this little Teddy Bear soon.

Fuzzy Face of the Day: Griffin
Although it is not our large animal day Griffin came to play today. :) Griffin is currently on the tail end of fighting a bacterial skin infection and doing great!! Griffin is a huge sweet heart and a pleasure to work with! Looking forward to seeing you in the future big boy!

Due to the COVID-19 virus our Dermatology department is closed to help protect our clients and staff. The department will be re-opening in the future and will continue to support our current and new clients as soon as possible. Any existing clients that have questions or need a refill of medications please contact us.

Fuzzy Face of the Day: Potato
Potato BTHO Pemphigus!! We have been treating Potato for pemphigus since February when he was 8 months old. Today he was finally able to come off of treatment and looks FABULOUS!! We will miss seeing Potato and his mommy, but are very happy he is doing so well. We love you Potato!!

Fuzzy face of the day: Casper
Who is this handsome man?? Casper came to see us for some help managing skin infection and allergies. He was rocking the Hawaiian shirt and hat today. As was his dad! ;) Derm was stylin' today with this gentleman. Looking forward to seeing him back in a few weeks!

Fuzzy Face of the Day: Dulce De Leche
Dulce is the sweetest 8 month old Bull Terrier who is super excited to be seeing our Dermatology service! Dulce has some bacterial infections to treat today and may come back when she is a little older to explore a possible allergy.

Fuzzy Face of the Day: Georgie
Georgie is the sweetest goldendoodle that present for evaluation of environmental allergies. She was so concerned about being on the table and thought Amanda was a great security blanket during her exam. Georgie will be starting immunotherapy to help address her allergic response to the environment in a few weeks. We love you Georgie and look forward to working with you!

Fuzzy Face of the Day: Pumba
Pumba is a handsome boy that came to see us for rechecking skin infections (much improved!!) and allergic skin disease. We will get the joy of seeing him periodically for his therapy until he "grows into" his allergies a bit and we can test him later this year. Just look at that face!

Fuzzy Face of the Day: Colonel Jessup
We have a lot of favorites on Dermatology, but it is rare that one of them gets to spend the whole week with us!! This is Colonel Jessup with his fabulous student Kaitlan after he finished his last course of radiation therapy. We are looking at alternative options for treating non-cancerous conditions and he has done VERY well with the radiation therapy (so much so, that this is the second time his owners have pursued this option for him)!! We're hopeful the treatment continues to provide improved comfort for his paws. We love you so much Colonel!!

Camo is a very handsome boy who came to us for environmental allergies. We skin tested this happy man and he will start his immunotherapy injections soon. He would give us great smiles but refused to let us get them on camers :) We look forward to working with him in the future to manage his allergies! Big hugs to you Camo!!

Mia is a cute pomeranian that is having some trouble with baldness. We tried a new technique of microneedling to see if that will encourage her hair to regrow. She is such a trooper and a very sweet little lady. Love you Mia!!

We got the chance to meet this lovely lady today. She came to us for what appears to be vasculitis related to an injury as a puppy. We are hoping to make her a bit more comfortable and we are completely impressed by the "heart" she showed us today :)

We enjoyed some time as a service at the annual North American Veterinary Dermatology Forum last month and since returning have been quite busy with with lots of spring allergies. Fuzzy Face of the Day: Roscoe
Roscoe is a lovely boy we met a few weeks ago with possible environmental allergies. He currently lives in a loving foster home with Lone Star Dog Ranch. He will be going to his new forever home in Oregon for Christmas. We will miss you big guy. Good luck in Oregon!!!

Fuzzy Face of the Day: Luna
Luna is a fun loving little girl that we saw for allergic skin disease. She is not * quite* the smallest we have skin tested but she sure made Amanda work for it :) . We decided that Luna needed a sweatshirt since it was cold and rainy when she left last night, and she was very itchy. We hope Luna will like her oral immunotherapy and will get some relief too. We LOVE you Luna!!

In memory of Jetty
Jetty was a staple around the entire TAMU Vet Teaching Hospital. She was always a great patient and friend whenever she came to visit. Her love of life and her teddy would brighten any room and make everyone smile. Jetty never met a stranger and loved with her entire heart. She is a special girl that will not be forgotten and will be greatly missed. Rest peacefully sweet girl!!

Fuzzy Face: WAYLON
This handsome gentleman was recently adopted by one of our friends in the Dean’s office. Unfortunately shortly after his arrival, he decided that getting an auto-immune skin disease would be a good idea to keep life exciting. ;) After a rough start and a recent set back, Waylon is doing GREAT on his new medications. We hope to continue to work on getting his pemphigus into remission and get him feeling back to his goofy, happy self. We love you Waylon!!

Fuzzy Face of the Day: HARPER!
This little handsome gentleman has been working with us for several months to help manage his food and environmental allergies. While he's not perfect, his skin looks GREAT today and is infection free!! We're hoping with a bit of extra therapeutic intervention (along with some snuggles and sneaky Frenchie kisses!) we'll be allowing for some additional benefits. We love you Harper!!
