The origin of amputating a dog’s tail may go back to the Roman writer Lucius Columella’s (A.D. 4-70) assertion that tail docking prevented rabies. And now it has become a fashion statement, breed ID and the number one reason to adopt a docked-tailed-dog: "I'm so glad he won't be clearing off the coffee table with that nub"!

Our registration for the Snake Avoidance Clinic April 7 is ready on the web page. Thanks to all of you for the "Like"on the dog page;so far that's a free bag of dog food- Yea! Good info to read before you take your dog outdoors Check it out.Gotta luv this rain in NTx!Ever wonder where the expression"It's Raining CatsandDogs" may have come from? The Greek expression cata doxa, which means “contrary to experience or belief.” So if it is raining cats and dogs, it is raining unusually or unbelievably hard.

Well bummer!! I sent the wrong date out- the Snake Avoidance Clinic is APRIL 7th 2012. I did get it correct on the web page... Snake Avoidance Clinic Mar7,2012 Approximately 15K dogs n cats are bitten by poisonous snakes in the US annually. Texas is listed among the highest for envenomation fatalities. In dogs, 70-80 percent of bites occur on the face and head, and 20-30 percent occur on the legs, with only rare cases occurring on the body. Rattlesnakes account for 80 of bites, while cottonmouth/water moccasin and copperheads are responsible for the remaining 20 percent. Just saying-you may want your dog to attend.

Lucklily for us,sweat glands are all over our body-WE are one cool cooling machine;DOGS are NOT.They have very few sweat glands and most of those are in the footpads. The moist lining of their lungs serving as the evaporative surface is the primary process dogs cool themselves when panting and breathing.Be cool- protect your dog. No snake avoidance clinic today.
I apologize for my tight planning with my brother's schedule.
And NOT even in Texas can you shoot your relatives!
I made several inquires and searches for someone else in the area who may do snake avoidance training, but to no avail. If anyone finds another person who does this training please let me know and I will notify the other interested owners who had signed-up.

Dogs are everywhere!A pangram is a sentence containing all the letters of the alphabet:"The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dogs".I did not find one pangram without using a Canidae as its subject-interesting how that worked out.Dogs are intertwined with man in all kinds of ways.Love your dog with good words;train positive!

Gotta luv TX!The blue Lacy, also called the Lacy dog,is a breed of working dog that originated in Texas in the mid1800s,the ONLY dog breed to have originated in our state. The Lacy was first recognized in 2001 by the Texas Senate. In Senate Resolution No. 436, the 77th Legislature honored the Lacy as "a true Texas breed".In June 2005, Governor Rick Perry signed the legislation as "the official State Dog Breed of Texas"
