11 year old alum Kylie crossed the rainbow bridge today. From her mom: “….after an aggressive lymphoma and its symptoms. So hard but Kylie is in a better place, running free with all our dogs before her”. You were dearly loved and will forever be missed. 💔

“My sweet Stanley crossed the Rainbow Bridge today.

Time with him has been far too short…. 3 years and 5 months. He instantly became my heart. At just over 12 years old and 100+ pounds of pure love, he has been the most gentle, easygoing soul. Stan the Man. My big hunk of love.

He carried me through my Dad’s death and so many difficult moments with the kind of quiet, steady comfort. He brought happiness to everyone he met. I don’t know how I’m going to live without him.

Run free, Stanley. You will always be my love.” 💔

Sharing this girl from the ARL! She’s was adopted out once fairly quickly, hoping we can give her more exposure. She’s listed as a Weimaraner but clearly a mix! She’s looks cute and fun! 🤩

AWESOME DOG ALERT: Looking for a dog who LOVES to play? Star is your girl! This bouncy gal loves to zoom around outside and chase toys you throw for her (frisbees are her favorite)!

Being outside and playing together will be Star’s favorite way to get to know you. She loves bodning with people through fun activities and is sure to make you laugh with her goofy play style.

Birdie has been with her foster family 6 weeks and this girl has really come out of her shell! This 3.5 yo weim has a very sweet temperament and dances like she’s in a Taylor Swift video when it’s dinnertime. She loves to be outside exploring the backyard. She gets along well with the resident weim and seems to use her as a guide as to what is permissible and what is not. Birdie will do well with another dog that has a somewhat laid back temperament. Birdie does well with a 4 year old child that visits. Cats are unknown. She continues to startle easily and uses her kennel as a safe place. She will do best in an environment that has consistency. She also continues to kennel well and is quiet during the night. Despite being a long-haired weim she sheds very little. Birdie is ready to be with her forever family.

Meet Miss Birdie, a very timid, petite long-haired weim. She is 3.5 years old. Birdie is very cautious and takes awhile to warm up. Once she does she is very loving and snuggly. Birdie loves a good squeaky toy but will rip apart any stuffy with great joy and glee. Birdie is housebroken and uses a dog door that opens to a fenced in yard in her foster home. She is very comfortable in a kennel and also uses her kennel as a place to chill out when she gets nervous. She gets along with the resident weim but does not like to feel cornered or trapped so will warn when she is. For this reason a home with a chill dog or senior dog will work best for her as would being an only dog.

Birdie shows signs of being scared of loud noises, sudden movement and being tugged on leash. A tie out or electric fence will not work well for her therefore a home with a fenced in yard will be given priority.

Birdie will make a great companion to anyone who has patience and love for her.

She is fostered in Des Moines, IA. Adoption fee is $250.
