Genesee County Animals in Need of Homes and Rescues To network and help animals of Genesee County Animal Control find homes and rescues along with helping the community
(29)

The reason for this page is simple, to help save as many as we can. The administrators are very active VOLUNTEERS at the Genesee County Animal Control that are in the kennels each week socializing our homeless dogs and cats. We spend countless hours trying to network and save these animals by advertising, and trying to find rescues and adopters. We many times have animals that are not at the shelt

er that are in need. Flint and the surrounding area is in desperate need of help for our animals. There are few rescues in our county to help move our homeless dogs and cats along. Please help us share the animals we post on this page so that they can all find the homes that they deserve.

Angus a sweet hidden gem that I met today for the first time. At 2 years old and 50 ish pounds this boy is so well mannered. We think he would do great with other dogs and children of any ages. He is a potty holder so he probably will be trained in the home also! He is so sweet and beautiful he loved spending time outside just watching other dogs play and get lots of loving. Come meet him!

ADELE ✨️
This sweet vintage gal is still waiting to be chosen… 💔
Adele is 10+ years old and one of our longest residents. One thing we can tell you about this girl is that she is resilient. Could you imagine being in a home for the majority of your life and then one day ending up in a shelter? We imagine she thought, "It’s okay. My family will come for me soon. I just know it." Unfortunately, that hasn't been the reality for Adele. Days, weeks, and months have passed, and her family never came back for her.
Despite having her heart completely broken, Adele is doing her absolute best to navigate shelter life. While no dog enjoys spending 23.5 hours a day in a kennel, Adele is trying her best to remain hopeful and in good spirits.
Adele has been so overlooked. She deserves to spend her remaining days in a cozy, peaceful home where she is spoiled and loved unconditionally. She is such a beautiful dog with a heart of gold. She’s a medium-sized girl at around 45 pounds and is amazing with people. We think she will do great with kids of all ages.
She is picky with her doggie friends, so she does require a meet and greet with any other dogs living in the home, but to be honest, she would probably be happiest as your one and only. In a perfect world, she would love to be spoiled and not have to share your attention and affection with any other pups. Adele is very smart and already knows ‘sit’, ‘lay’, and ‘shake’.
This girl is an absolute hidden gem here at Genesee County Animal Control
Please help us share her so we can find her forever family…she has been waiting for so long. We don’t know how many years she has left, and we can’t bear the thought of her spending another day in the shelter. ❤️‍🩹

KARRIE
✨️ Golden girl (10+ years old), currently looking for a nice, quiet home with no other dogs.

🗨 It takes a long time to get this sweet. Pets, like fine wine, improve with age. When I think about all the dumb things I did as a puppy, I just want to howl with embarrassment! The chewing of shoes, the accidents in the house, all the impulsive moments... But now, I'm older and wiser. I may be a little slower but I'm also smarter, calmer, and less likely to drive you crazy. I'm ready to be your friend and couch-mate, to share in daytime adventures and evening cuddles. I still play like a puppy sometimes, but not all the time. Believe me, that's something you'll appreciate about me at three in the morning. So go check out the puppies and the kittens, and then, when you're ready for a mature relationship, come back to me - or one of the older cats (they paid me to say that). I've got a lot of love left to give. Will you let me give it to you? I'll be patiently waiting for you at Genesee County Animal Control! 💕🥹

Meet Smith! He’s 2 years and 49 pounds. He hasn’t shown much interest in other but from I saw today he looks like he wants to play so meet and greets would be required! Older kids because he is working on his manners and might knock a little one over. He’s very friendly, loving, and treat motivated. We worked on sitting and not jumping today and he did so amazing! Come meet this sweet boy!

Going to Rescue!

Sally, #35249, adult, female, available to adopt, FIV+

Sally is a brave and loving cat who has faced some challenges in her life, but still manages to bring joy and affection to those around her. She may have lost an eye (picture is prior to surgery) and be FIV+, but she doesn't let that hold her back. Can you give Sally the loving forever home she deserves!

As mentioned, Sally has the condition Feline Immunodeficiency Virus, or FIV. Despite this, it does not define her as a cat or limit her capacity to live her best life. Sally is perfectly capable of enjoying a long, happy, and healthy life with proper care and attention. By welcoming her into your home, you not only gain a cuddly and loyal companion but also become a hero, giving a deserving kitty the love and care she truly deserves.

Sally is litter trained, vaccinated, spayed and microchipped.

When adopting, you need to come with a carrier for your new cat. No appointments needed unless previously stated.

GRANT 💚
Energetic, curious, and ready for the adventure of a lifetime ✨️

GRANT ( #35038) - Male. Around 1 year old and 44 pounds. Dog friendly with proper introductions and would do well with children of all ages. Cats unknown.
He’s the sweetest brindle boy who just wants to run around and play. He’s energetic and curious and loves exploring. He is super happy outside of the kennel and always has his tail wagging. He would make a GREAT adventure buddy! 🏞🐾

Grant is very stressed here at the shelter and is having a hard time coping with being in a kennel 23 and a half hours a day (as they all are). With him being so young and high energy, this environment is not conducive to his needs whatsoever. Please come meet Grant!! He’s ready to start his next adventure with you. ♥️🏡

No appointments needed unless previously stated. Tuesday - Friday: 12-6 pm and Saturday: 10 am - 2 pm.

Meets now recommended (not required) with other dogs and children unless otherwise stated.

All dogs will come vaccinated (age appropriate), spayed or neutered, heartworm tested, and microchipped. For questions, please message us at Facebook.com/adoptgcac.

Hey besties!

My best friend Kayla decided to stop by and see me yesterday. She brought out her phone and snapped all these pictures of me. She said it’s for publicity and to get me the heck out of here! 😉 So here I am, the most beautiful girl in the world—yup, it’s me, ADELE! 💋

Please share and tell all of your friends, cousins, great uncles and aunts, grandparents, and even the people on your page that I am here and waiting so patiently at Genesee County Animal Control in Flint, Michigan. I’m apparently over 10 years old, even though I don’t feel like it. I’m smart and know tons of tricks, especially stealing hearts. ❤️ I have stories to tell and can’t wait to dream on a nice, warm, cozy bed—with you!

Love your girl,

Adele Bug 🥰💋

Our Story

The reason for this page is simple, to help save as many animals as possible. The administrators on this page are active VOLUNTEERS that work with the employee’s at Genesee County Animal Control to help promote the animals at the shelter and find them loving homes or rescue.

Many of the volunteers are at the kennels each day socializing the homeless dogs and cats. Countless hours are spent networking and advertising the animals based on the information provided by the shelter. In addition to the shelter work, many times we work to help provide help to other animals in need that are not actually in the shelter, but rather in the Flint area. There are so few rescues in our county to help move our homeless dogs and cats. Please help us share the animals posted on this page so that they all find the loving homes they deserve.
