I have been asked if Estero River Reptiles is still in business, so I thought I'd put the answer here...
I have had a rough few years overseeing the care of both of my parents, handling the sale of their house, and dealing with the challenges that come with having elderly parents. Sadly, we lost my mother in March of 2014 and my father this past June. I am slowly regaining control of my life, and am happy to say that Estero River reptiles is back in business. We have a clutch of albino California king snakes already hatched, some normal California king snakes still waiting to hatch, and a brand new clutch of normal ball python eggs today. We got a late start this breeding season, but expect to be much more busy next season.

We will have a table at this expo, but they still need available people to volunteer.

Can you believe it? The Southwest Florida Reptile Expo is less than 3 weeks away!! Club members...if you will be able to volunteer at the expo, PLEASE (notice the begging tone there?) let me know as soon as possible. I'd like to know if you will be there one or both days and the approximate hours you can help out. Anyone willing to do a small "talk" during the day would be appreciated too. Either respond on here, call me, or email at [email protected] . Raffle items are also being accepted. Thank you thank you!

Had a great time sharing the snakes at a birthday party today. Thank you Becca for the invitation! The kids seemed to enjoy all the snakes, but Samson the boa constrictor was definitely the biggest hit.

From the Calusa H**p Society:

The speaker for this month is Jordan Donini. He is a recently graduated biologist (B.S. in Biology) from Florida Gulf Coast University, concentrating predominantly on reptiles and amphibians. He worked with Emydid and Kinosternid turtles, as well as gopher tortoises and green treefrogs during his time at FGCU. He traveled to Ghana, West Africa in October 2011 - January 2012 to work with the Christian Conservation Organization, A Rocha Ghana, promoting environmental awareness and education, along with helping to initiate a population study on Crocodylus suchus (formerly C. niloticus) in a man-made dam/Eco-tourism site. During his talk he will explore the diversity of h**ptofauna that he encountered through pictures. He will also touch on the interactions and attitudes of the people of Ghana that he met in regards to their reptilian co-inhabitants!

From the Calusa H**p Society:

By popular demand from CHS members, this month's meeting will be a show-and-tell. There is no one speaker, so feel free to bring in your favorite snake, lizard, turtle, frog, etc. to share with the group. This is a great opportunity to polish up on your presentation skills and share a little knowledge with the rest of us. There is no limit to what you can discuss as long as it relates to a h**p species. (no fur or feathers allowed)

This is a participation based meeting so come on out and help us put on a great presentation! This Thursday, June 7, at 7pm.
