Congrats on a great job. Thanks to Guy, Judy, Brian & Morgan for all they do at there donation sight as well as the NCWRC events they participate in every year.

The South Wake Conservationist (SWC) Deer Donation Site, a participating site of the NC Wildlife Federation Farmers and Communities Manage Deer program delivered enough ground venison today to provide 1,000 meals to victims of Hurricane Florence. With assistance from Gerry Locklear’s (NCWRC Enforcement Officer, retired) NativeMinistry.org collaboration with the Christian Outreach Center in Lumberton, folks in Lumberton who lost their homes in the flood will now enjoy home cooked meals prepared by volunteers at the Center. The Christian Outreach Center has also been instrumental in helping victims to replace lost clothing, furniture, building materials and food.

SWC will be open though January 1st accepting legally harvested deer for neighbors in need and deer skins to help disabled veterans. SWC also serves as an NCWRC sample collection site for research studies. Hunters are invited to drop off deer jawbones and samples for Chronic Wasting Disease surveillance. (919) 250-8441. Howard Walters of Furs, Feathers & Fins Taxidermy drove more two hours last night to bring his harvest to the Harnett Area Deer Donation Site so that it could benefit victims of Hurricane Florence. Also serving his community as a hunter ed instructor, mentor to new hunters, and volunteer at countless youth and outdoor sports related educational programs, Howard is a great example of why hunters remain some of NC’s most dedicated conservationists. Howard bought raffle tickets to support processing costs of meat donated to this NC Hunters for the Hungry deer donation site as well !
