Great tip!!!

Before the fireworks start (most places they've already started!🎇), take a sharpie and write your phone number on your dog's collar! You can literally write it directly on the collar, on the outside of it or flip it over and write it on the inside. When we get in a stray dog, we always look at both sides, hoping there will be some info! 🐾 Keep your pets safe and enjoy the upcoming holiday!🎆

💔 Another lifer in our Broken Hearts Club is Baloo! Baloo has been in our care for 477 days! His foster family adores him but is still hopeful that he can find his forever home.

🎩 Baloo is such a gentleman. He loves playing with other dogs. He was adopted from SCHS in 2020 and lived with a family for three years. He was returned to us at no fault of his own when the family’s circumstances changed.

⛈️ Baloo is 7 years old so way past the puppy stage. He is house-trained and crate-trained. Baloo loves to play, but his favorite activity is snuggling on the couch. He does have a fear of storms but his foster Mom has found turning on a radio or fan keeps him from being nervous in his crate during a thunderstorm.

🐶 The adoption returns always break our hearts. We saved Baloo from being euthanized at a rural shelter in 2020 and now we have to save him again. Baloo deserves a family that will love him forever. Is that yours?

You know we love our cats, but last week went to the DOGS! Literally! 🐶 Look at all those sweet pups!

Scott County struggles with high dog surrender and dump rates after the holidays, leading to higher euthanasia rates. We are so proud of our dog team for anticipating this and really working hard in January to get our dog adoptions UP! 📈

You will see more dog events coming, but please help us save more dogs by:

🦮 Becoming a FOSTER. This is often short-term, esp for puppies. Go to sc4paws.org > Ways to Help > Volunteer > complete online form at bottom and click “foster.” FOSTERING SAVES LIVES!

🦮 Sending interested adopters to our website & live events. Go to sc4paws.org > Animals > Dogs > select dog of interest and complete application

🦮 Support our Scott County Animal Care & Control shelter. They are the intake facility for our county. They are FULL! We are only able to move a portion of their animals into homes with our volunteer base. Visit them M-F 8-4. They have a number of dogs listed online at scottky.rescuegroups.org
