Kiva is still hoping for her furever family. Just 2 1/2 years old, Kiva is a loving and loyal friend. She gets along well with other dogs and enjoys her days at Island Pawadise. But she really needs a home and family. Kiva has Addisons disease and gets a monthly injection. She can expect to live a long, normal dog life with your love and care. So excited to share the news; Newman was adopted by our very own Kennel Crew volunteers Dan and Denise!!!! They have grown so close with Newman, caring for him since his intake here in late August. Newman was dumped by his previous owner, left loose on the farm, a young pup that also happens to be deaf. So thankful he was captured quickly and turned over to the shelter. Newman was pretty scared and it was a big change for him here. For the better. He began to relax and trust people again. Dan and Denise saw the best in him pretty quick. Today they welcome Newman into their home and hearts, to began his furever life! Thank you both and congratulations!!!

This sweet girl is hoping for a furever home and family. Kiva is friendly, great with other dogs, and has a lot of love to give. She was recently surrendered due to her person having some health issues causing an inability to provide the care Kiva needs. Please share and help us find Kiva her next chapter. The shelter volunteers do an amazing job caring for our temporary guests. Dogs, cats, bunnies, and any other domestic in need. They do it because they want to make a difference, help a scared or hurt animal feel safe and loved, and support a community of fellow animal-lovers in a common endeavor to ultimately place the homeless, into their furever home and family. One of the perks of being a volunteer? Getting dibs! Superstars aligned when volunteer Janice fell for homeless kitty The Penguin, and we couldn’t be more excited!! Congratulations and thank you for all you do for all of them….but especially this. It’s Furever, folks!

Newman is available for adoption and looking for the right fit. He is deaf and may have some reduced vision and will need a guardian/protector/person that will train with him, play with him, let him explore with his nose, and keep him safe. A clear message has been sent this day. What I’m hearing is, I’m not doing enough to tell you all that Taco wants a home and family yesterday! He is the coolest cat in the shelter. He plays fetch and entertains himself and us. Healthy, neutered, current on vaccinations and microchipped. Please share and help us help this wonderful character out of the shelter! Domestic rabbits cannot survive long in the wild. We see this all too often. Imagine you are transported magically to a foreign land, where you don’t understand the language. You don’t have your ID, wallet, money, or shelter. You don’t know anyone, it’s getting dark and cold, and you have nowhere to stay. The neighbors are hostile and start checking you out. Good luck. Run and hide. ☹️ These two were released here on the Island. They survived on their own for four days that we know of. They stuck together. A resident called to report that they were showing up at different times in the yard. And eventually they wandered to a garage looking for shelter. A resident there was able to close one in. The other escaped. We were worried for him, due to him being on his own now. But later that day he wandered into another yard and residents jumped into action again. Thank you to these heroes. The rabbits are safe at the shelter. Getting a proper diet along with some treats like broccoli, leaf lettuce, and strawberries. Water. There was no water source anywhere near the area they were released. Their breed is one of the friendliest, Rex.
“Known as the "King of the Rabbits," the Rex rabbit is prized for its velvety, plush, soft fur, which is short and dense, lending it a unique feel. The luxurious coat comes in 16 color varieties. The Rex rabbit originated in France in the early 20th century. Rex rabbits are playful and affectionate. They may be from 7.5 to 10.5 lbs.”

Thanks to the Kings on the south end for calling in a possible injured Eagle in their yard this afternoon. Upon arrival, I saw not one, but two eagles entangled and struggling on the ground. I immediately called local falconer and raptor rehabber, Mark Tomich. Mark said he’d be right out and he and I could work together to get them apart and check for injuries. Naturally, while waiting for Mark, I got a little video of the pair. They saw my mug and broke apart, flying off together shortly after! Beautiful sight and sound. Yesterday I posted a video of little baby kitten. As I made nice in full body armor and withstood hissing, spitting, biting from the little devil. Today…Jordan reaches in there barehanded like he’s getting a cookie from the cookie jar. She melted right into him. 😂 #goodcopbadcop #cookiethekitten #acoscaredycat #jordanthecatwhisperer

We have brought in six strays in two weeks. They are all unique and go from easy to difficult for a multitude of variables. Four are intact and will cost upwards of $400 each. Two tested positive for FIV. One is a very fearful kitten who will require lots of socializing. We’d be grateful for any help or good vibes you can spare. Good morning from the farm!

Could we get some shares on this girl? Charlie (female spayed) is healthy, playful, only three years old with lots left to give the right family. She let me brush out her coat and rolled on her back for more. She loves to go for walks and play ball. It’s hard to see her alone in the kennel when we leave the shelter.
