Happy international dog day to this beautiful girl. Our only currently, Rachel has recently began and won’t be much today since she has to be in a for the next two months or so. We hope this will bring her many of and happiness.

Rachel received her first shot today, which is used to treat patients by killing adult worms. This uses an arsenic base to kill the worms so have to stay overnight at the clinic to have their hearts, livers, and kidneys, to prevent or quickly treat a bad reaction. Rachel now has to stay in her until her next shot in one month (and even longer). It’s important for her to so that her body can adsorb the dying heartworms, at risk of the worms becoming loose too soon, causing failure, and sudden death. All of this can be easily prevented by giving your dogs a monthly heartworm pill or treatment with and or any dog health premix which can be easily found online, at pet stores, tractor supply, feed stores, etc. @ The First Best Thing Farms

Rachel had her fourth weigh in today and we are happy to see she is again. She’s been on antibiotics for a week now and hasn’t had negative reactions, and we’re just very happy her continues to improve. In a little under three months, she should be close to her weight and receiving her second shot for treating heart worms but that’s a for another day.

Rachel started today as a first step for treating her adult heart worms. Included with her was a one year long treatment plan for her path to recovery. #💸 @ The First Best Thing Rescue

Playing a little with our in the tall grass. She’s having a hard time finding it but we’ll keep working with her to improve scenting skills and help develop her mind more. Coming from abuse, rescue dogs sometimes need help and time to relearn some of the basic skills that they didn’t have the leisure or liberty to learn as puppies. These types of activities are good for dogs anyway as it engages basic instincts.

Rachel the enjoying some cold stuffed in her Kong chew. Just another way to on these hot and doubles as a nice activity so she can and spend some time with her toy and soothing herself. We're very excited to announce our newest venture.

As animal right activists and humanitarians, we’ve been called to help anyone unfortunate enough to need welcoming into our doors. TFBT Rescue, a nonprofit organization, began in the wee hours of a Friday night with a dog that had been hit by a car.

As a nonprofit organization, TFBT Rescue is owned by the public and operates strictly as a dog foster and rehabilitation facility to grant dogs an opportunity to heal and return to being functional parts of a human-dog family unit.

In our care, these dogs begin to heal physically and mentally until they are ready to be adopted. Adoptable dogs have clean bills of health and have began retraining social and obedience behaviors. Some dogs do have long term impressions of their past trauma, but rescue dogs generally live normal, healthy lives and have a lot of love to give in return.

The First Best Thing Rescue organized by Kolten Burkes

As animal right activists and humanitarians, we've been called to help anyone unfortunate enough to need welcoming into our doors. TFBT Rescue, a future 501(c)3, began in the wee hours of a Friday night with a dog that had been hit by a car. We operate as a dog foster and rehabilitation facility to grant dogs an opportunity to heal and return to being functional parts of a human-dog family unit. Medical care and even daily care can be costly, especially for dogs in a critical state-of-health so any community support is greatly appreciated and allows us to keep helping those that cannot help themselves.
