👂👂 New research is out that evaluates the effects of HBOT on the hearing recovery for idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss (ISSNHL) patients aka "Sudden Hearing Loss."

👏👏 Initiating HBOT earlier after the onset of hearing loss, is associated with greater hearing improvement in recovering hearing!

Dr Dennis Geiser presented some excellent information and studies on HBOT for pain management to about 50 attendees at the IAVPM Forum in Atlanta GA. We still have a lot to learn on the application of HBOT in the veterinary clinical setting, but we share what we discover every step of the way! www.vhavet.org

HBOT (Hyperbaric oxygen therapy) 💭

Hyperbaric medicine has been around for years in human medicine. They have been using it in veterinary medicine overseas for many years too ⭐️

We are now lucky enough to have this treatment available in Australia for our pets! 🙌

Hyperbaric medicine is a non invasive, holistic technology, that utilises high pressures and pure oxygen - the patient is placed in a pressurised chamber, breathing 100% pure oxygen. This forces oxygen into tissues and plasma, at a much higher level than normal. The body absorbs up to 15 times MORE oxygen than it would under normal circumstances, which significantly accelerates the healing and repair process ❤️‍🩹

This oxygenation exerts many beneficial effects - including anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory and anti-microbial effects, as well as stimulating growth factors and stem cells in the body, to promote healing. It also improves antibiotic pe*******on, into more difficult to reach tissues 🧬

I’ve seen many patients and conditions successfully treated at our clinic.

Some conditions it is excellent for include:
- Infections and abscesses, including multi-resistant infections 🦠
- Slow or poorly healing wounds 🩹
- Burns, skin grafts
- Inflammatory conditions such as pancreatitis, peritonitis
- Neurological diseases including vestibular disease and vascular injuries 🧠
- Spinal disease and cord injuries including IVDD, FCE, gliosis
- Bone fractures 🦴
- Snake bites 🐍
- Kidney disease (acute and chronic)
- Some eye conditions 👁
- Musculoskeletal disease and pain management

And so many more.

The environment inside is usually between 20-24 degrees, and the pet has cool bedding to lay on if they choose. Most pets are very relaxed, and some even sleep 💤

The number and frequency of treatments depends on the condition being treated.

Here are some patients undergoing HBOT therapy!
