The 9th floor, there is a nice leather jacket lying on the ground, darker and scarier up at the top, random holes in the floor add to the sketchiness.
Urban Exploring, abandoned Soviet era building sits on the edge of town. Looks like it was never finished, the stairway entrance was bricked up, but with a little effort a bypass was found on another set on an adjoining building. No zombies were hurt in the making of this film.
We were just 16 years old when the Desert Dogs got it's start. It could be said there were times that we would now easily describe as reckless. We were all a bit wild, but one guy truly held the trophy. Greg was there on that first trip and he came up with the idea to create a club and gave it the name. If a cat has 9 lives, then Greg was an OG Desert Dog with 99 lives and he used them on regular basis. Greg had not been well for a time and last week he checked himself out of medical care facility and then headed to his cabin in the remote Desert east of 29 Palms. There was a record heat wave hitting the Deserts and it proved a bit too much for even the toughest guy you ever met. He succumbed to a heat stroke sometime late last week. Greg Hill, 002, aka the High Planes Stoner, is now out traveling on that sunset trail.
This video is Greg dropping a mine in the east Mohave around 1984. A few minutes later a boulder hits him on rappel and breaks his shoulder, he still climbs out on his own. Look carefully for the black eye too, results from something we can't even Remember.
Greg had a heart of gold, not saying he obtained the gold legally, , but none the less , still a heart of gold and he will be missed.
The best thing Greg ever did was let his 13 year old little brother Dan tag along with us. Dan went on to become an exemplary model of a Desert Dog in every way. Dan then served in the US Army deployed in Iraq for Desert Storm. He entered boot camp already a trained soldier and marksman partly thanks to the teachings of his big brother.
