π£ Calling All Superheroes! πͺ
The Guardians of the Puppy Galaxy need fosters quickly; they are leaving for an important mission next Thursday, July 25th. These brave puppies must go in 2s and 3s to foster homes until they can be dropped back off for space travel. πͺ
Gamora (#MASA38866), Mantis (#MASA38867), Thor (#MASA38868), Daredevil (#MASA38869), and Wasp (#MASA38870) are counting on YOU to be the heroes this week! They will need to go with their sidekicks by 4 pm today, but may be able to be picked up tomorrow morning. π
Maverick's (#MASA35827) foster parent has nothing but β¨glowingβ¨ things to say about him. Read all about what you can expect if you adopt this boy:
"What is life like with Mr. Tubs? He needs nothing more than a comfy spot to rest his old bones and a good pet behind his ears! He loves chicken nuggets and playing tug-of-war with his rope toy. If youβre around, he loves to be near you. But heβs also perfectly content to lay around by himself on the couch all day, every day.
"He is a very sweet, loyal dog - one of the dogs you can tell appreciates living the 'good life.' He currently lives in a family with an 8-year-old. Tubs has been around a lot of kids from ages 7 & up on a day-to-day basis. He has been introduced to a lot of new people and has been friendly to everyone, usually wanting to play!
"Thereβs nothing better than coming home to Mr. Tubs β he is always very excited! He hops around and always brings a toy to show off.
"It is best and necessary that Mr. Tubs be in a single-dog household to ensure successful, long-term placement!
"He is used to being on a lead in the yard. He does well with baths and nail trimmings. He sleeps alone and stays home alone during the day just fine. He is potty and kennel trained (though not needed). He is heartworm NEGATIVE and neutered. Mr. Tubs' foster will transport him to any approved adopter in any location.
"Mr. Tubs is hoping to live out his golden years with a loving family of his own! Heβs an affectionate, low-energy friend who still has a lot of love to give and life to live."
β‘οΈ You HAVE to meet him! If you are interested, email your full contact information to [email protected] to have it forwarded to his foster parent for a meeting. he MUST be adopted by August 5! You can also send us an adoption inquiry from his profile found at memphisanimalservices.com/adopt/available-pets/ πΎ

Memphis Animal Services Reopens to the Public After Canine Distemper Outbreak
Launches Free Dog Adoptions to Prevent Further Transmission
(Memphis, Tenn.) - May 7, 2024 - The Memphis Animal Services (MAS) has reopened its doors today after a temporary closure due to the discovery of canine distemper virus (CDV) and canine infectious respiratory disease complex (CIRDC) among its residents.
With the safety of over 250 animals at the forefront, MAS took swift action on May 3 to contain the spread and is appealing to the public for assistance in safeguarding the pet population and the community.
As of the latest May 6 update, 14 confirmed cases of CDV have been identified. To prevent further infections, MAS has implemented rigorous measures including separating exposed and non-exposed dogs, deep cleaning, mass testing, medical treatment, staff training for public education on adopting dogs with CDV, and comprehensive contact tracing efforts.
βShelters around the country are seeing an uptick in viruses like CDV and CIRDC. When you have so many animals in one place coming from different circumstances with varying health challenges it can happen,β said Ty Coleman, Director of Animal Services. βOur team is understaffed, but we work diligently to continuously improve intake processes, increase positive outcomes, and find forever homes for all pets under our care.β
Until further notice, MAS will continue to operate on an emergency intake basis, prioritizing animals in situations posing public safety risks. This includes animals needing urgent medical attention, and those facing injury, illness, or active cruelty cases.
MAS is now launching an adoption drive to rehome animals and mitigate the risk of further transmission. From now until May 21, all adoption fees will be waived, with additional support provided to prospective pet parents including education, indoor crates, dog beds, and dog food (while supplies last). It is recommended that dogs should only go to
