Phoenix, with his charming demeanor, has successfully forged a deep connection with this individual. We are delighted to witness the profound bond they have formed.
Fried's Cat Shelter is located in Michigan City, Indiana. It is home to over 300 wonderful felines.

Pleased to announce that Donald, a visually impaired feline, has found a loving home after visiting three shelters. Despite his challenges, Donald enjoys human interaction and has often been overlooked due to his condition. We are delighted that this young lady recognized his potential and chose to adopt him. We wish them both a joyful and fulfilling journey together.
Zeus, a large feline, selected this gentleman and his wife as his permanent owners. His substantial physique reveled in the attention bestowed upon him. We consistently experience elation when a mature animal is adopted.
Megan has won the hearts of this couple! We firmly believe that felines select their owners, but regardless, Megan has secured a permanent place in their lives!
Print this flyer or stop in and ask for one to present when ordering. Thank you!
River, a composed and affectionate feline companion, exuded his captivating charm towards the prospective adopters. Given that River will be introduced to a canine sibling, we collectively express our sincere hopes for a harmonious coexistence. We firmly believe that the unwavering determination demonstrated by the couple will facilitate a seamless transition for all parties involved.
Next up for adoption is Arlo! Arlo came to us through our Trap-Neuter-Return program, but he was simply too friendly and affectionate to release back into the wild. After taking their time to meet each kitten, this lovely couple was won over by Arlo's charm. (Photo declined due to privacy concerns.)
Wolfe, our polydactyl cat, has found his forever home. He was discovered in poor condition some time ago, but thanks to our diligent care, our vet, and attention, he has made a remarkable recovery. The smiles on the faces of his new owners are a testament to the successful outcome of our efforts.
Fried's Cat Shelter has resumed its normal operations and anticipates a significant number of adoptions this upcoming weekend. We would like to express our gratitude to all the volunteers who made themselves available, despite the restrictions that prevented their physical presence, and to those who reached out with offers of assistance. We are also appreciative of the concern and well wishes we received, as well as the patience demonstrated by our supporters. We were even the grateful recipients of a kind gesture in the form of donuts. Fried's Cat Shelter is truly fortunate to have such dedicated and supportive individuals.
It is with great regret that we must inform you that our establishment will be temporarily closed for the weekend. Our entire team has unfortunately fallen ill with a contagious virus, and while we prioritize their well-being and recovery, we also have a responsibility to safeguard the health of our valued visitors.
Rest assured, this is not a case of COVID-19, but rather a flu that seems to have spread. The management and director have taken all necessary measures to ensure that our feline residents will continue to receive the utmost care, including feeding, cleaning, and providing emotional support during this challenging time.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding as we navigate this unforeseen circumstance. We will keep you updated on our progress and look forward to welcoming you back as soon as our team has fully recovered.
Thank you for your continued support and loyalty.
The contributions of all volunteers are highly valued, but we are particularly grateful when esteemed members of our banking partners join us in volunteering. Your efforts are greatly appreciated, and we extend our sincere gratitude to the ladies and one gentleman (not pictured), who participated.
UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE EXPERIENCING PHONE ISSUES WITH OUR TNR NUMBER, AND WILL BE REPLACING THE TNR PHONE ASAP. IN 3 DAYS 57 CALLS CAME IN SO WE DO UNDERSTAND THE NEED! HANG IN THERE AS WE NAVIGATE THIS MINOR SET BACK PLEASE! IN THE MEANTIME [email protected] IS A CONTACT METHOD YOU CAN USE.
The day's finale was marked by a poignant adoption, as Jenna, a sweet 10-year-old lap cat, exemplified the rewards of embracing senior pets, her contentment a beacon of hope for those seeking companionship.
Our Jax has been successfully placed in a loving home with a wonderful couple, who, after a thorough search among various cats and kittens, ultimately had their hearts won over by Jax.
Wall-E was so desperate for a furever home that he basically attached himself to every visitor's leg, but hey, being a clingy robot finally paid off and he found his new family today!
Sophie's journey has taken a heartwarming turn, as she's found her perfect match in a love-at-first-sight encounter. With adoption formalities now complete, they're embarking on a lifelong adventure together.
Meet Ernest, our second adoption today. He slept through his audition, but once he woke up, he paws-itively owned the place!
Our first triumph of the weekend! Our endearing boy, Ian, has captivated our visitors today, but ultimately stole this gentleman's heart.
Shelters will hide their ugly so that all looks wonderful on the outside. I just wanted to tell you about our last few days. We have lost lives, been threatened, had some dumped outside, and received unexpected expenses, and for the last few days, our morale has been so down. The reality is spay and neuter. It really is as simple as that. There really have been strides made in lower-cost options. We will be fine and continue caring for the homeless, loving the forgotten, and feeding the hungry! Do you think you can't contribute? Thinking out loud, you could educate, spread the word, volunteer, or whisper a prayer!
At Fried's, we understand that the adoption process can be demanding, or exhausting as our felines await their forever homes. Despite this, we are delighted to inform you that Fried's still has a diverse selection of cats available for adoption. Our adoption center is open on Fridays from 2 pm to 6 pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 pm to 4 pm. We firmly believe that cats can provide exceptional therapeutic benefits and make wonderful family members and pets.
We concluded our weekend with the lovely Ginger selecting her human companion. She invested a considerable amount of time in our kitten room, and Ginger emerged as the ideal candidate to bestow an eternity of affectionate purrs.
Although Cambrie's bashful demeanor had led to her being passed over previously, this resolute young man remained steadfast in his belief that she was the one, shining a light on her hidden strengths.
Simon's found his forever home, and we're paws-itive it's due to his irresistible cuteness! Now, Alvin's the solo Chipmunk left - can he keep the cute momentum going?
Yesterday, David captured the hearts of his new family, and today, we celebrate a dream come true with our first adoption, his brother Goliath! This wonderful lady and her husband met Goliath last Sunday, and his delightful antics left a lasting impression, staying with them all week. Seeing Goliath's sibling and friends find their forever homes only reinforced their desire to come back and make him a cherished member of their family.
Although we are late in posting this, our David did not triumph over Goliath, yesterday; rather, he won the affection of this beautiful family.
These five babies are available for adoption this weekend. Ernest, Eden, and Emmy are siblings, and Eden and Emmy are polydactyls. We are open for adoptions Fridays 2pm to 6 pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from 12 pm to 4 pm.
This beauty is Ava. Ava looks bigger than she is and weighs 2.9 lbs. The blue insulated lunch bag was what Ava was completely zipped up in, and literally thrown out of a car onto our lawn. The director witnessed this and immediately approached the lady and saw the bag flopping. She grabbed the bag and unzipped it revealing a hot panting scared kitten. While standing in front of the lady's car, along with a TNR volunteer, the lady pulled forward in a threatening manner. This lady and director exchanged words and the license plate was reported to authorities. Before anyone says "at least she brought the kitten to shelter..." please realize if we were not here, or had not noticed, the kitten would of died. Please realize the trauma and harm this did or could of done to the kitten. Finally please acknowledge that the act itself was against the law and could of had a much worse ending. Ava is healing and coming along fine and if progress is continued she will be up for adoption real soon! How she still trusts humans is beyond me!
HOPE THIS POSTS FINDS EVERYONE WELL AFTER THAT STORM. ALL OUR CATS ARE WELL THOUGH WE DID LOSE POWER FOR A BIT. THE DIRECTOR ASSURED THEY WERE FINE.
WE FIND OURSELVES AGAIN VERY LOW ON BAGS OF DRY FOOD AND CAN FOOD FOR OUR COLONY. 9 LIVES, FRISKIES, MEOW MIX, PURINA, ETC. THANK YOU ALL!

With a fierce determination, Bomber soared through the sky, until he found the perfect family to call his own
We received this video and permission to share it. The adopter wrote: Tonight’s entertainment, thanks to Fried’s supply to our kitty addiction🤣 We love seeing the felines in their home, happy and loved!
Our kitten room is booming with beautiful fur babies awaiting their forever home. Males, females, already fixed and tested as well as up to date on shots. Come meet them Friday Saturday and Sunday 12 to 4.
UPDATE: ADOPTED ADOPTED ADOPTED If you’ve visited our senior room, chances are that you’ve met Beauty. She has been at the shelter for 4 years now. 😿 She’s such a sweet, loving cat. We just know she could make someone very happy. She is currently 5 years old & gets along with other cats. More photos of her here: https://www.facebook.com/100067756950615/posts/531454529123108/?mibextid=cr9u03
Roy may have been passed over the last couple weeks in our kitten room, but we are hoping this is his weekend. 🤞 Born 4/13, this fluffy dreamboat was a bit nervous meeting new people at first, but he is really starting to warm up. He is a real sweetheart & says just give him some time, & he’ll be the purrfect companion. Stop in our kitten room this Friday, Saturday, or Sunday 12-4 to bring him home!
We still have 4 male kittens looking for homes: Greg, Peter, Roy, & Wasabi. All are 3-4 months old. Just look how much fun you could be having with them! Stop in & pick one out this Friday, Saturday, or Sunday 12-4. 🐈
One is the loneliest number. Our sweet B.B. can attest to that. She requires a single cat household since she is scared of other cats which has made it difficult for her to find a home. She has so much to offer though! She’s playful, loving, gentle, & a lap cat! Did we mention you can hold her like a baby & rub her belly too? She just needs someone to give her a chance. Come meet her this Friday, Saturday, or Sunday 12-4. More photos/info on her here: https://www.facebook.com/306191250756/posts/10160921720345757/?mibextid=SDPelY
⭐️ UPDATE: ADOPTED ⭐️ Whenever we get asked if we have any declawed cats, Kit Kat is always at the top of our list to recommend. He’s a fantastic cat! So sweet. So loving. Gets along with all 14 of his roommates. A total lap cat. Lets you hold him. He even gives kisses! Sounds like he should’ve been scooped up by now, right? The only catch is he has FIV, so despite him being just about the purrfect cat, he isn’t getting picked. 😿 It’s coming up on a year since he’s been at the shelter, & we would just love if someone gave him a chance. He is currently 7 years old. Come meet him this Friday, Saturday, or Sunday 12-4. You can view our previous post on him & see more pictures here: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10160805514880757&id=306191250756
Who is coming to pick out a new baby today? All 12 kittens are still available! We’re open today & tomorrow 12-4. 😸
Meet Ariel! We have a future WNBA player here! 🏀 Just look at those long legs! Ariel has been at the shelter 3 years, & when she’s not busy sinking baskets, she’s usually sneaking out into the halls. Ariel wants her freedom! She loves to run & play. Her favorite game is to hide under a blanket then pop out & surprise the other cats. She knows how to make her own fun & keep herself entertained. Ariel is almost 7 years old & barely shows her age. She is friendly with people & would make a great companion. Come meet Ariel this Friday, Saturday, or Sunday 12-4.
It’s been almost a whole year since one of our FIV+ kitties has been adopted. 😿 So many sweet little faces wait week after week & are never chosen. FIV is transmitted through deep bite wounds & weakens a cat’s immune system but is not a death sentence. As a matter of fact, over half of our FIV cats here are seniors. It’s true that FIV: * Does not transfer in the air * Cannot be spread to humans or dogs * Cannot be transmitted through petting, sharing water bowls/litter boxes Please consider one of these babies! They deserve to be loved. Come visit them this Friday, Saturday, or Sunday 12-4.
⭐️ UPDATE: ADOPTED ⭐️ Snow is still looking for a home. He’s been at the shelter almost 3 years & has been so close to being chosen a couple times. Who could pass up this gluttonous spotted boy? Snow is laid-back & friendly. He’s got a positive attitude & gets along with other cats. He is currently 6 years old. Who has room in their heart for our beloved Snow? 💜 We’re open Friday, Saturday, & Sunday 12-4.
No new kittens available this week, but we still have plenty of great cats looking for homes. One special kitty looking for love is our one-eyed Bosco. He’s a sweet, 5 year old kitty that is easy to please. He gets along with other cats & says just give him a window, some pets, & he’s one happy guy. Come meet him Friday, Saturday, or Sunday 12-4.
